BUFFALO, NY: Despite recording their first point of the season on Sunday afternoon, the Royals will be looking to show off more than just their skills this week as the travel to Buffalo NY to partake in the 2017 OJHL Governors Showcase.

The Showcase was developed by the League to provide an opportunity for scouts from all levels to see every player in the OJHL over the course of a week at one location. This year the Royals will be taking on the Milton IceHawks and Mississauga Chargers on Tuesday and Thursday respectively at the HarborCenter looking to do more than just showoff to the scouts in attendance.

The two games Markham will play are still part of their regular season schedule, meaning the Royals will attempt on Tuesday once again to win their first game of the season after suffering a double overtime loss on Sunday afternoon at the hands of the Wellington Dukes. Even though the Royals are only three games into the season, they find themselves behind Aurora and Newmarket who are undefeated and Pickering and Stouffville who each have a win. With 4 games in the next 6 days, this is a big week for Markham before a tough stretch between Sept 29 and Oct 06 where the Royals will take on Kingston, Stouffville, Cobourg, Trenton in the span of a week.

One area of concern for the Royals so far this season has been their special teams and discipline play, with costly penalties late in the game and a power play that has struggled out of the gate. One area of promise for the Royals is in their crease, with Ryan Coughlin and Cole Brady providing the Royals a chance to win every night.

The game against Milton on Tuesday goes at 7:15pm, while Thursdays tilt against Mississauga will start at 7:45pm. All games from the OJHL Showcase will be available for viewing at home on HockeyTV.com. The Royals will return home the Markham Centennial Community Centre on Friday Sept 22 for a matchup against the Burlington Cougars.

Player Watch
Royals - #26 Jack Jeffers - One of the newest members of the Royals, Jeffers has settled right into the top line role with Lucas Condotta and Brett Ouderkirk.
