Oakville, Ontario - After a year as an affiliate player, playing in three regular season and three playoff games while recording four assists in the process, Matthew Kellenberger has confirmed he will join the Oakville Blades this season.
A 5’11 170lb blueliner, Kellenberger had an offer to join the OHL’s Sarnia Sting but has instead decided to pursue College Hockey and will join coach Ron Fogarty’s Princeton Tigers in the fall of 2018. In 34 games last season with the Toronto Nationals Midget AAA program, the seventh round OHL Sting selection recorded five goals and nine assists.
GM Mike Daley was thrilled about the signing. “Matthew stepped into a pressure situation and performed very well in last year’s playoffs against St. Michaels. His hockey IQ and ability to read the play are exceptional and his defensive game will grow as he gains experience at our level. We’re very excited Matthew chose the NCAA path and in the process to suit up for the Oakville Blades.”
