Dylan Wettlaufer had a penalty shot with just over 3 minutes left but could not score to tie the game …
With less than a minute left the Vets pulled their goalie and the Vets dramatically tied it with just 20 seconds left to force OT … with the goal being scored by none other than Wettlaufer … now that is sweet justice ….
The league is going with a 5 minute 4-on-4 overtime period followed by a 5 minute 3-on-3 overtime period if no one scores … if it is still tied there will be no shootout and the game will end in a tie with each team getting 1 point in the standings …
The first overtime period went scoreless … but then just 38 seconds into the 2nd overtime period veteran Mackenzie Langford scored on a breakaway to give the Navy Vets the thrilling victory …
Michael Roefs was outstanding in the Vets net facing only 25 shots but many of his saves were of the game-saving variety …
