EVANCHO COMMITS TO ARMY
Buffalo Jr. Sabres captain Zach Evancho (photo credit - Andy Corneau/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Army West Point (United States Military Academy) Black Knights beginning with the 2016-17 Atlantic Hockey season.
The Derby, New York native joined the OJHL last season with the Jr. Sabres after spending time in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms. Evancho would taste immediate success, finishing second on the club with 18 goals and fourth in overall scoring with 35 points in 37 regular season games played. He then added three assists as the Sabres nearly upset the South-West Conference regular season champion Georgetown Raiders, taking them to seven games in the first round.
This season, Evancho was named captain of the club and has continued his offensive prowress, leading Buffalo with four goals and eight points in seven games thus far.
