The OJHL announced today that Burlington Cougars forward Jack Jeffers (photo credit - Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has been named the Gongshow Gear South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month for September after leading the OJHL in scoring with 18 points in 11 games played during the month.
The 18-year old picked-up where he left off in 2014-15 and jumped out to the early league scoring lead in September, notching 4 goals and 14 assists. Spearheading the Cougars resurgence that saw them sitting atop of the OJHL's West Division standings, Jeffers month got off to a quick start with a four assist opening night effort versus Oakville. Following that, Jeffers went on a nine game scoring streak that saw him register 17 points, including five multi-point efforts and the game winner during an inter-conference match-up versus Wellington.
The recently turned 18-year old native of Oakville, Ontario, got his first taste of the OJHL as a 16-year old with his hometown Blades in 2013-14 out of the Oakville Rangers Midget 'AAA' squad. Last year he made the full-time jump to Junior ‘A’ hockey, joining the Cougars for his rookie season. Jeffers tasted instant success, finishing second on the club in scoring with 19 goals and 46 points in 49 games played. His early season efforts earned a spot on Team OJHL Nieuwendyk that finished as runner-up at the 2014 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge held in Toronto.
Daniel Hardie of the Georgetown Raiders was runner-up to Jeffers as the South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month. The Raiders leading scorer fired 12 points in 7 September contests.
