SOKAY COMMITS TO NIAGARA
Wellington Dukes alternate captain Ben Sokay (photo credit - Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Niagara University Purple Eagles of the Atlantic Hockey Association, NCAA Division I Conference.
The Port Hope, Ontario native made his OJHL debut in 2013-14 after starring with the Peterborough Petes Minor Midget 'AAA' squad the previous year. Sokay would play four games for the Lindsay Muskies that season and made the full-time jump last year with the Wellington Dukes. As a 17-year old rookie with the Dukes, Sokay registered 19 points in 53 regular season contests and got his first taste of Junior 'A' post-season action, scoring one goal in his two appearances.
Thus far this season, Sokay has been counted on as one of the Dukes 'Go-To' guys and has not disappointed. He has already matched last year's goal total with eight in just 14 games thus far, while adding 4 assists for 12 total points to sit second in overall scoring on the club.
Congratulations to Ben and best of luck the rest of the way!
