The OJHL announced today that Georgetown Raiders netminder Andrew Masters (photo credit - Kevin Sousa/OJHL Images) has been named the Gongshow Gear Goaltender-of-the-Month for January after posting a 1.95 goals against average in 10 games played during the month.

Capturing the award for the second consecutive month, Masters posted a 7-3-0 record to push the Raiders to the top of the OJHL's South-West Conference standings.  His month included a 44 save overtime victory against the Toronto Jr. Canadiens on January 17 and three shutouts, including a 37 save, 4-0 victory, over the previously division leading Buffalo Jr. Sabres.  Stopping a league-high 288 shots in the month, Masters posted a .935 save percentage.  He becomes the first player to capture back-to-back Player-of-the-Month Awards since Brady Wiffen of the Trenton Golden Hawks last season and the first netminder to win consecutive honours since Kevin Entmaa of the Aurora Tigers in 2013-14.

The Kitchener, Ontario native made his OJHL debut this season as a 20-year old after bouncing between Junior 'B' and 'C' the past three seasons.  A product of the Kitchener Jr. Rangers 'AAA' organization, Masters made the jump to junior hockey in 2012-13 with the Paris Mounties Junior 'C' club.  By the following season, he was the loop’s top netminder in most statistical categories and would split the season with the St. Marys Lincolns Junior 'B' squad.  After starting 2014-15 in St. Marys, Masters was moved to the Sarnia Legionnaires, closing out the year in an impressive fashion by being named the GOJHL Western Conference Goaltender of the Month for February.  Making the jump to Junior 'A' this season, Masters has continued to post outstanding numbers, leading the OJHL with a .936 save percentage, while sitting second among all OJHL goalies in games played (37), wins (24) and goals against average (1.96).

Olivier Lafreniere of the Wellington Dukes was runner-up to Masters as the Goaltender-of-the-Month.  Lafreniere posted a perfect 4-0-1 record with a 1.88 goals against average and a .943 save percentage.
