The OJHL announced today that Trenton Golden Hawks alternate captain Hunter Fargey (photo credit - Amy Deroche/OJHL Images) has been named the Gongshow Gear North-East Conference Player-of-the-Month for February after leading the OJHL in scoring with 20 points in 11 games played during the month.

Entering February on a two game point-scoring streak, Fargey turned in the most offensively productive month of his three-year OJHL career, carrying the streak to 12 games before finally being kept off the scoresheet in the final game of the season.  Notching points in 10 of the club's 11 games, helped the Hawks post a 9-1-1 record to clinch the franchise's second OJHL Regular Season title in four years.  Highlights of Fargey's month include five multi-point outings, with a four point effort versus Whitby and a career-high five point game against Lindsay.  Recording 11 goals in the month, eight of which came during a seven game goal scoring streak, Fargey scored the game-winner in five of the club's nine victories, including all three wins against their division rival from Kingston.

The 21-year old hometown boy is a product of the Quinte Red Devils Midget 'AAA' program.  He would spend the 2012-13 season as a member of the nearby Campbellford Rebels Junior 'C' squad, registering 28 goals and 57 points in 40 games played.  The following year, he made the jump to the OJHL with the Golden Hawks as an 18-year old.  The rookie notched 10 goals and 29 points in 48 games, while adding another 6 points in 12 post-season contests.  Returning as one of the club's leaders, Fargey finished sixth on the team in scoring with 15 goals and 48 points as the Hawks captured the East Division regular season title and then added 10 playoff points en route to the North-East Conference Championship Series before falling to Kingston.  With an 'A' on his chest entering this season, the veteran tied for second on the club with 23 goals and finished third in overall scoring with a career-high 54 points in 41 games played.  His play earned a spot on Team OJHL Coffey that competed at the 2015 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Cornwall, Ontario, although he was unable to participate due to injury.

Nathan Hudgin of the Stouffville Spirit was runner-up to Fargey as the North-East Conference Player-of-the-Month.  Hudgin led the Spirit and the North Division in scoring with 9 goals and 15 points, including two game-winning goals, as he pushed his club to within one game of a post-season berth.
