The OJHL announced today that Trenton Golden Hawks netminder Chris Janzen (photo credit - Andy Corneau/OJHL Images) has been named the Bardown Goaltender-of-the-Month for November after posting a 1.46 goals against average during the month.

Joining the Golden Hawks this season, Janzen has made quite the impression on the OJHL, earning Goaltender-of-the-Month honours for the second time in three months this year for the defending OJHL champion.  Janzen’s month included an undefeated 5-0-1 record in six games played, a scintillating 1.46 goals against average, to lead all OJHL netminders during the month, and a sparkling .944 save percentage, which ranked second in November.  Following a 24-save 1-1 overtime draw with Kingston to kick-off the month, Janzen went on a five game winning streak to help vault the Golden Hawks back to the top of the East Division standings.  He had two, 30+ save performances, including an impressive 37 save, 4-0 shutout, over the North Division leading Markham Royals.  Janzen currently leads the OJHL with 19 victories, 3 shutouts and a 1.87 goals against average.

A native of Pelham, Ontario, Janzen would play 'AAA' hockey in nearby Niagara Falls before closing out his minor hockey career with the Southern Tier Admirals 'AAA' organization.  Janzen would then join the nearby Welland Jr. Canadians for the pre-season in 2012-13 season, but the club chose to go with a pair of veteran backstops.  He joined the Canadians full-time in 2013-14 and would spend the next three seasons as one of the club's primary netminders.  The 2013-14 season would prove to be his most fruitful.  After being named the GOJHL's Golden Horseshoe Conference September Goalie of the Month, Janzen was selected to play in the GOJHL Top Prospects Game held in Port Colborne, Ontario, stopping 17 of the 19 shots he faced for Team White during a shootout loss.  Joining Trenton this season, he made an immediate impact, post an undefeated record in September to be named the OJHL Bardown Goaltender-of-the-Month and he would be named a member of Team OJHL Oates, allowing just two goals in two games played at the 2016 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Cornwall, Ontario.

Cosimo Lazzarino of the St. Michael’s Buzzers was runner-up to Janzen as the Goaltender-of-the-Month.  Lazzarino posted a 5-1-0 record with a 1.98 goals against average and a .938 save percentage for the Buzzers, and he currently leads all OJHL goalies with a .933 save percentage on the season.
