OAKVILLE'S ISRAELS NAMED WARRIOR NORTH-WEST PLAYER OF MONTH

October 8, 2019, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Harrison Israels of the Oakville Blades (Photo by Owen Mertens / OJHL Images) has been named the Warrior North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month for September after he tallied 19 points during eight games. His seven goals included two on the power play and one game-winner.

Israels committed to join NCAA Division 1 Alaska Fairbanks beginning with the 2020-21 season last March.

In his second season with the Blades, the 20-year-old from Mississauga has seven goals and 14 assists during 10 regular season games.

The 19-year-old went from seasons of AA midget with his hometown Streetsville Tigers and AAA midget with the Mississauga Senators to the junior ranks.

He had a breakout 2017-18 with the Powassan VooDoos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, netting 69 points (38 goals/31 assists) in 51 games.

Israels had 48 points in 55 games in Oakville last year. His 27 goals included five game-winners.

Harrison will be honoured during a pre-game ceremony in Oakville this month.

 

Zach Taylor of the Collingwood Colts was runner-up to Israels as the North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month. The defenceman from Sault Ste. Marie, ON had two goals and 10 assists in nine games. Taylor, who turns 20 on Oct. 15, played two seasons with the Orangeville Flyers of the OJHL before spending last year with the Jr. B Leamington Flyers.
