65 OJHL GRADS PLAYING IN AHL
CALGARY, Alta. – With the American Hockey League’s 2019-20 campaign nicely underway, you’ll find 171 alumni from the Canadian Junior Hockey League on current rosters throughout the AHL – one level below the NHL.
That number includes 65 graduates of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
All 31 AHL clubs feature multiple players, who took to the ice in at least one CJHL contest during their junior careers, on their teams.
Both the Stockton Heat, the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, and the Iowa Wild, whose parent organization is the Minnesota Wild, boast 10 CJHL alumni each to lead the way in this category.
Meanwhile, the Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres) and Springfield Thunderbirds (Florida Panthers) each have nine ex-CJHLers in their respective line-ups.
