The Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), announces the 10th edition of the Final 4 Playoff Championships will be held April 3 – 6, 2014 at the prestigious Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. This elite Intermediate AA play-down showcases some of Canada’s future Olympic talent, and is considered the highest level of competitive female hockey in Ontario. It is the culmination of the PWHL season, where this year the top eight playoff survivors will vie for the coveted Alumni Cup.
The Olympic-format event is being hosted by the PWHL with the Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Association. Hornets President, Mike Turczyniak, said, “We are proud to have the PWHL as our guests at our bright, modern Sixteen Mile facility. What an exciting format, with eight teams starting round-robin play on Thursday evening, and the final four teams in the Medal rounds on Sunday.” Jim Holman, Vice President of the PWHL, complimented the Town of Oakville and the Oakville Hornets on their dedicated contributions to support this year’s event. “With most games being played in the Olympic bowl, fans and enthusiasts alike will have a unique opportunity to experience exciting female hockey over this 20-game weekend!”
