Minnesota Made Men’s League 3v3 Rules

  • 1 referee will be provided for each game.
  • Each game will consist of two 27 minute running time halves - see game info.
  • There will be a 1 minute rest break between halves
  • Warmups are 4 minutes
  • Teams listed first on the schedule are home and the teams listed second are away.
  • The Home team has the possession to open the first half and the visiting team has possession to start the second half.
  • Minnesota Made and any of its affiliates assume no liability for personal injury to any participants during league play.
  • The last minute of the second half will be stop time if the game has a margin of three goals or less.

Game Info:  Please provide pucks for warmups.  Be on time to start all games as the game time depends on the hour of allotted ice that is 60 minutes.  The officials will adjust the time of halves based on when the teams take the ice.  The hour of ice starts the minute the Zamboni leaves the surface.

Game Rules

  • Pucks will be played off the netting and wall if it lands in play and is live.
  • When goalies cover a puck and the whistle blows, the attacking team needs to vacate the zone and touch up and then can re-enter the zone and can not enter until all three players have touched and then can re-enter.
  • If a team enters the zone early after a goalie freezes the puck, the whistle will blow and the attacking team will need to reset in the neutral zone back to their own blue line.  If a team enters the zone too early three times in a game, there will be a penalty shot awarded to the defending team for delay of game.
  • You make, you take. After scoring a goal, the team that scored will be back in possession of the puck.
  • A three line pass will be blown dead meaning, if a player behind his own blue line passes the puck to a teammate behind the far blueline it will be whistled dead and possession goes to the other team.  This includes from behind the goal line to the red line.
  • Teams will not change ends at the half and will defend their bench end each half.
  • This is a standard no check league and the referees will manage that closely.

Penalties

Minor penalties such as body checking, cross checking, high sticking, holding, hooking, interference slashing, too many men, tripping will result in a penalty shot.  The penalty shot will be taken from center ice and will be live.  The chasing players can not have any part of the skate on the blue line and need to be starting flat footed from the inside of the shooting teams zone.  If the penalty comes as time expires in a half and the clock says 0:00 it will be taken with chasers and will result in either a goal and a save.  The half then ends.  If a penalty is called and there are a few seconds left that result in the time running out during the penalty shot, the play will continue with chasers and the play will be dead after a goal or a save.

Major penalties such as boarding, checking from behind, high sticking, fighting, or any other infraction that is assessed a major will result in an ejection for the player and a penalty shot.  If a player receives a major penalty he/she will be suspended for the next league or playoff game.  If a second major penalty is assessed on the same player, they will be ejected from the league.

Roster Sizes

Roster sizes are up to the discretion of each team.  A team is required to have 3 players and a goalie to play in an official game.  If there is no goalie or enough players, the team will forfeit that game.

Standings

Standings will be kept and regulation games will end in tie.

Playoffs

There will be a six team playoff and seedings will be determined by standings.  In event there is a tie in the standings, the tie breaker criteria will be head-to-head, goals allowed, goals for, coin toss.

Referees

There will be one referee assigned to each game.  The referee will be on the ice to drop the puck at the start of each half and then call the game from the bench area.  The referee will run the time clock and add scores to the board and report the final score to the tournament manager.
