Former MLB Pitcher Brian DuBois Joins Snipes Coaching Staff

The Lexington Snipes have announced the addition of former Detroit Tigers pitcher Brian DuBois as the teams’ new Pitching Coach, General Manager/Field Manager Billy DuBois said Friday.

 Brian, who is Billy’s cousin, played for the Tigers in 1989 and 1990, posting a 3.82 ERA in 9 appearances. In total, Brian has 10 years of experience pitching for MLB-affiliated teams from 1985-1995, playing in Rookie – AAA leagues for affiliates of the Tigers as well as the Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies. Prior to joining the Orioles Rookie League affiliate in 1985, he pitched for Reed-Custer High School in Braidwood, where his 626 career strikeouts rank 2nd in IHSA history. Brian also holds the IHSA single-season record for strikeouts, recording 262 in the 1985 season, during which he posted a 0.06 ERA (4th all-time) and led Reed-Custer to the schools’ lone state championship.

The Snipes welcome Brian to the squad as they prepare for the 2013 season as a new member of the the 6-team Midwest Collegiate League. They will play a 49-game schedule beginning Friday, May 30 at Oil City Stadium in Whiting, IN against the Northwest Indiana Oilman.  The Snipes play their first home game May 31 at High Desert Field, where they will take on the McLean County All-Stars.
