3:59 PM EDT

The Stallions continued their fast start to the season with wins over University at Buffalo by scores of 3-0 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday to move to a 3-0 record for the season.

Friday night was a fast paced, end-to-end game with good defensive play on both ends. Stallions forward Wyatt Ford open the scoring late in the first period assisted by Michael Altobelli and Zachary Roberts. When Buffalo took a slashing call, the Stallion power play went to work with Patrick Nicholson scoring assisted by Levi Rowan and Wyatt Radakovitz. Zachary Roberts, assisted by Devin Farkas, would add an empty net goal with 1:15 left in the third to seal the game.

Alex Hufford continued his strong play in net stopping all 29 Buffalo shots to earn his first collegiate shutout and his second win of the season.

Saturday’s game started well for the Stallions with Wyatt Ford scoring first for the second night in a row on a pass from Zachary Roberts 5 minutes into the first period. The teams played evenly through the rest of the first period.

Buffalo started to carry the play more in the second and finally scored on Stallions goalkeeper Alex Hufford 5 minutes into the period on a one timer from the slot. The Buffalo goal ended the streak of 116 minutes of shutout hockey by Hufford and the Stallions going back to the first game vs Eastern Michigan. Moments after an apparent go-ahead goal by the Stallions was disallowed due to the whistle being blown by the referee, Buffalo took the lead with less than a minute to play in the second period on a shot where the goalie was screened.

Buffalo continued to increase the pressure in the third, but the Stallions and Hufford were resilient and pushed back. The Stallions evened the score at 2 on a goal by Michel Altobelli, assisted by Corey Siwula and Wyatt Ford halfway into the third period. Levi Rowan would break through for the Stallions’ game winning goal on a sweet passing play from Devin Farkas and Wyatt Radakovitz with only 4:15 left in the game. The Stallions team defense finished strong and Hufford would finish the game with 51 saves on 53 shots.

The Stallions’ next game is on Thursday October 11 when they host Davenport University at Wings West for a 9:45pm puck drop.
