Cal Ripken Sr. League heading to Lynchburg to compete in NACSB Prospect Games
By Marc Goldstein
With the season nearing the midway point, the Cal Ripken Sr. League will send some of its top performers and biggest draft prospects to compete in the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB) Prospect Games. The team will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia, to play at Liberty University on Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27.
The Ripken Sr. League is one of eight leagues to compete in the tenth iteration of the Prospect Games. The other leagues include the Atlantic Coast Baseball League, Florida Collegiate Summer League, Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League, New York Collegiate Baseball League, Southern Collegiate Baseball League, Sunbelt Baseball League, and Valley League. Each team will play two games over the course of the three day tournament.
This is the fourth time that the Ripken Sr. League is playing in the Prospect Games and the first time since 2019. From 2017-19, the CRSCBL annually attended the Prospect Games, accumulating a record of 3-3 all time.
The roster for the Cal Ripken Sr. League team includes some of the brightest stars the league has to offer this season. The headliners include Jeffery Heard (Big Train, Sacramento State), Dixon Williams (Big Train, East Carolina), Tim Nicholson (Aces, George Washington), Anthony Ehly (Aces, Seton Hall), Matt Miura (Cropdusters, Hawaii) and Amani Jones (Thunderbolts, Stevenson), among others. The roster is composed of 26 players from five of the eight teams in the Ripken Sr. League.
The Prospect Games will be a great opportunity for the CRSCBL to show off the embarrassment of riches that play in the league for the rest of the country as well as a showcase for some of the prospects on the rosters as the MLB Draft is rapidly approaching.
The Cal Ripken League will play on Monday, June 26 at 6 p.m. against the Sunbelt League and then play again at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27 against the Atlantic League.
