50/50 Raffles are an excellent way for charitable and sporting organizatons to quickly raise money through the sale of double numbered tickets at predetermined prices.  As tickets are sold, one of the numbered tickets remains with the purchaser and one is collected for inclusion in the draw barrel.  At the conclusion of the sales period, a ticket is selected from the draw barrel, and the holder of the winning ticket can claim the prize - 50% of the total sales.  The remaining portion of the pot stays with the charitable or sporting organization.

Licenses for 50/50 Raffles are required by local gaming regulators, with requirements including a specifiation of prices to be used (multipe pirce points are allowable), a maximum number of tickets per price point, a description of the purpose for raising funds (which must comply with gaming regulations) and a full reconciliation of draw activities after the conclusion of the draw.  Costs associated with running the draw are considered allowable gaming expenses, provided they abide by regulatory guidelines.
