Rod McLeod
Rod McLeod is a lifelong resident of Cornwall. Born in the U.S. but moving to Cornwall at the age of 2, he grew up in the east end of the city with a passion for sports that started in his parents backyard and extended to the local east end parks. Growing up he enjoyed baseball, football, golf and most notably hockey, playing on the local outdoor rinks usually into the late hours of the day. Rod's love of the game extended to competitive at the minor levels and then on to junior and university/ college levels.
Retired now, Rod's list includes a 35 year contribution as a hockey coach and instructor for various local and national hockey schools. He has coached boys and girls teams from Atom to Intermediate/ Junior levels. He continues as the head instructor for the Tyke program with the Cornwall Girls Hockey Association as well as the head coach for the Senior Women's A hockey club and for the last 4 years with the Holy Trinity High School boy's hockey team. This year he participated on a part time basis as an assistant coach with the Ontario Hockey Academy. Rod is completing his fourth year as President of the Cornwall Girls Hockey Association and 18 years as an executive member.
He's an original founder of the Cornwall Men's Flag Football League that continues today and was one of the lead members of the Aquatic Centre and Benson Centre fundraising teams. He is also the "2011 Cornwall Citizen of the Year", 2012 runner up for the national volunteer award in the "Hockey Goes On" contest and the 2013 Benson "Friends of the Round Table" award for lifetime achievement.
