DEAN BAUMHAUER - Head Coach & General Manager

A native of Bowmanville, Dean grew up playing in Clarington before playing four seasons with the Eagles in the late ‘80's.  After playing, Dean coached for ten years in the OMHA, having great success with the 2000 age group in the AAA Clarington Zone organization. He moved on to be an assistant coach with the Whitby Fury (OJHL).  In summer of 2019, Dean joined the Eagles staff as the Head Coach. In his first year behind the bench, he led the team to a first-place regular season finish, impressing the expectations needed for winning.  Dean credits being a strong communicator, having a structured program, instilling discipline, commitment and respect to his success at every level of coaching. The PJHL league is ideal for the competitive player who is going to school full-time or working. It offers an elite level of competitive hockey with a schedule that accommodates diverse needs.

CRAIG WILCOX - Head Trainer & Assistant General Manager

Born and raised in Bowmanville, Craig got his start in hockey during the 2016/17 season with the AAA Clarington Zone 2002 group as an assistant manager and statistician and has since worked in various capacities with the Whitby Wildcats and Whitby Fury prior to joining the Eagles.  Having a passion for sports and wanting to give back to the community he grew up in, Craig joined the Eagles in the summer of 2018 as the assistant trainer and equipment manager working under the guidance of Wes Jackson.  After Wes announced his retirement in the spring of 2019, while retaining his role as equipment manager, Craig took over as the head trainer of the team, immediately obtaining his Level 3 Trainer Certification, and later took on the additional role of Assistant General Manager.  Craig will continue to perform these roles moving forward, working side-by-side with Dean Baumhauer, to help build on the Eagles first place finish during 2019/20 season.

DAVE FAIREY - Assistant Coach

A native of Bowmanville, Dave Fairey played for the Bowmanville Eagles back in the 80's. For many years, he has given back to hockey, coaching with the Clarington Toros and Clarington Zone organizations. Dave communicates well and enjoys teaching the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

KYLE WELSH - Assistant Coach

A former CPGA Golf Professional, Coach Welsh knows what it takes to achieve success as an elite athlete. Kyle has an impressive coaching and youth mentoring resume with the Whitby Minor Hockey Association, Oshawa Minor Hockey Association, Whitby Girls Hockey Organization and, most recently, with the Cobourg Cougars. The owner of "Behind the Puck", a full scale hockey development program, he is committed to giving back to the athletes and sports in an inclusive environment that supports development and education. 

SHAYNE YATEMAN - Assistant Coach

Coach Yateman grew up playing hockey in the Haliburton area. After moving to Bowmanville and having a family of his own, Shayne rediscovered his love for the game coaching for the Clarington Toros. While he continues to volunteer for the Toros, Shayne has joined the Eagles where, mentored by Coach Baumhauer, he will continue to teach the next generation of hockey players.

DAVID BELL - Alternate Governor/VP of Operations

David first became involved with the Eagles when his son was one of the first “Little Buddy” Toros players mentored by an Eagles’ player. Dave formally joined the team in 2013 as the Program Coordinator of the Eagles’ mentorship program. Two seasons ago, David took on the additional responsibility of the role of General Manager.

Dave has been a tremendous asset to the Eagles over the years and the team is so pleased to keep him on board in a new role. Moving forward, Dave has agreed to stay on as Vice-President of Operations. Passionate about the Eagles and giving back to the community, he will lead the organization’s direction and purpose as an elite hockey team.

David is also an experienced youth lacrosse, hockey and soccer coach. He volunteers his time to the Clarington Toros.

 

GOALIE COACH CARSON BIRD

Carson is the head of Goalie Development for Carson Bird Goalie School at The Barn Elite Performance Centre. He is also the Goalie Coach for the UOIT Ridgebacks Women’s Hockey Team, OJHL Pickering Panthers and head of goalie development for the Stouffville Clippers Minor Hockey Association, Unionville Minor Hockey Association, Newcastle Minor Hockey Association, Clarington Toros Hockey Association, Oshawa Minor Generals Hockey Association, Clarington Flames Girls Hockey Association, and the Clarington AAA Toros Hockey Association. He also serves as an evaluator for the GTHL Program of Excellence and is an accredited Hockey Canada Facilitator. Carson has AAA experience as well as Junior A and Junior C experience in the net. Carson is not interested in changing the player but motivating them to bring out their best through his mastery of current teaching techniques.
