Welcome

WELCOME PLAYERS, COACHES AND FANS!

Congratulations and welcome to the 2016 State Legion Baseball Tourney! Welcome to Small Town America as our three towns of Delano, Maple Lake, and Loretto combined have a population of barely over 8,000 people! Despite our lack of big city amenities and population, we hope you find enough to be entertained for at least one weekend! Our promise to you is that we’ll work hard to make sure your tourney experience is a memorable one! Our fields are in excellent shape and our volunteers are excited to be your hosts! We are proud to be old-fashioned “baseball towns”!

Sites

● The four tourney sites include Delano Municipal Baseball Park and Dave Zitzloff Field in Delano, along with Arnold Klaers Field in Loretto and Irish Stadium in Maple Lake. All four fields are in beautiful settings and have volunteers with plenty of tournament hosting experience.

● Irish Stadium in Maple Lake was named the 2015 Minnesota High School Field of the Year! Delano Municipal Baseball Park received the same award in 2013 and also was named the Midwest Region Field of the Year in 2014! It was one of eight finalists across the nation for the National High School Field of the Year, an award that went to a ballpark in the slightly larger town of Houston, Texas!

● Please note that on Day 2 of the tourney when most games move to Delano that the two Delano sites are within walking distance of each other. It will feel like a true tournament atmosphere as fans can easily check out games at either field. There also are picnic areas under mature oak trees for fans to gather between games.

Concessions

● Full concession stands will be operating at all four sites including “full meal deals” with grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, walking tacos, etc.! If the weather stays hot, popular items will include ice cream treats such as root beer floats, ice cream sandwiches, and freezies. Besides the usual beverages such as pop, water, and Powerade, there will be an assortment of craft beers for sale at the Delano sites. We appreciate any encouragement you can give to your players and fans to visit our concession stand!

Tickets

● Please note that a purchased ticket is for a whole day’s worth of games! For example, your first day ticket is good for any of the four games at any of the four sites! Also note that your team will be playing two games the first day and the ticket is good for both games!

Apparel

● Access the following website for official State Tournament T-shirt purchases. https://legionstatebaseball.itemorder.com. There is also be a link to this website on Legionbaseballhub.com. There will be separate information sent to you regarding the window for your team & fans to order.

Eating Out in Delano!

● Hopefully, you’re in town for a long weekend as that means you’re winning games! If you want to check out a local Delano restaurant, we’d recommend these baseball supporters: Bridge House (especially for coffee and ice cream); El Molcajete (a local Mexican restaurant that gets great reviews); the Peppermint Twist (a unique old-fashioned drive-in); Dave’s Town Club (cheap, but good food in a Sports Bar atmosphere); Bonde Bistro (a new high quality sit down restaurant); and of course, the Delano American Legion Club (with specials during the tourney). There also are pizza options such as Unhinged Pizza and Pizza Hut, chain restaurants such as Dairy Queen, Subway, and Applebee’s, and small local restaurants such as Chun Mee and Edie Mae’s Eatery. There are also two brew pubs in town: Lupine Brewing Company and South Fork Brewing Company.
