On June 30 the L.I. Cubs and the L.I. Brewers were scheduled for a cross-over division game at Old Westbury at 6 pm. As the players on both teams were arriving before game time they saw a film crew interviewing Cubs manager and league president, Tim Hott. Nobody took much note of this as both teams had been told, in advance, that a local news crew might be on hand to interview players about adult baseball. Then, everything changed. Mr. Met and a crew of people from Pepsi and their ad agency swept in and virtually kidnapped both teams, the umpires and anyone else who was there, loaded them all onto two buses and drove them all to Citifield. What happened next is best shown in the photos on this page and, yes, that really is Doc Gooden who not only was there he even took the mound and pitched to a couple of Brewer batters.
