SMITHSBURG SWEEPS CATOCTIN, BOONSBORO TAKES TWO OF THREE FROM FSK - 12/14

VARSITY Smithsburg 60 Catoctin 32 Smithsburg led 32 to 16 at halftime and they extended the lead in the third quarter. Both teams played hard in the fourth quarter. Smithsburg was led by 5 players in double digits. Leading scorer for Smithsburg was Maddex Kusolnimit with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Vince Bloom with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Jacob Rogers, Luke Glines, and Landon Pugh all had 10 points. Pugh also had 5 assists. Catoctin was led by Weston Tyler with 17 points for game high.

 

JV Smithsburg 47 Catoctin 12 Logan Domenico and Dimetus Lee led Smithsburg with 9 points each. Bentley Hobbs added 8 points for the winners. Wiles had 8 points to lead Catoctin in scoring.

 

6TH Smithsburg 42 Catoctin 32 Nash Byrd led Smithsburg with 12 points and 4 steals, and DJ harris added 9 points. Malachi led Smithsburg in rebounds with 12. Bryce Rickerd led Catoctin with game high 13 points.

 

Boonsboro Varsity defeated FSK 43-28. Boonsboro’s Chase Main led all scorers with 11. Maddex Murray added 8 points with 9 steals and Gabe Lazo tallied 7 for the Warriors. Cam Bullock led the Eagles with 8 points and Brendan Ware added 7 in the loss.

 

FSK’s JV defeated Boonsboro 32-29 in a back and forth contest. Jonathon Diehl led FSK with 12 points and Wade Smith scored 9 points. Landon Jordre and Landyn Palmer paced Boonsboro with 7 points each.

 

6TH In a 46-18 Victory for Boonsboro, Thompson put up game high 16 and with Fawley scoring 10. FSK was lead by Myers team high 7 and Fischer 3 

 

MIDDLETOWN, LINGANORE SPLIT NAIL-BITERS; BOONSBORO WINS THREE - 12/13

Varsity Middletown 35 Linganore 32 Middletown takes down Linganore using a strong surge of offensive pressure. Trailing 16-9 at the half, the Knights dialed in from long range and shot the Lancers out of their zone. After a 15-3 run, the Knights took a 24-19 lead into the fourth quarter and never looked back. A would-be game tying 3 fell short at the buzzer along with the Lancer comeback. Kathan Franklin led the Knights with 9 points, while Aiden Aviles and Nikolas Van Rensburg each pitched in 5. The Lancers were led by Cooper Davis' 12, including two 4th quarter threes during the comeback that fell just short. Elliott White added 9 for the Lancers.

 

JV Linganore 26 Middletown 24 After winning the opening tip but turning the ball over, the Lancers fell behind to a 10–0 Knights run and trailed 6–10 after the first quarter. In an all around defensive game, Linganore responded with a 5–0 surge in the second, holding Middletown scoreless to take an 11–10 lead at halftime. Their defensive dominance continued in the third, limiting the Knights to just two points while extending the margin to 17–12. The fourth quarter turned into a nailbiter as Middletown stormed back with an 8–0 run to pull within two in the final minute, but the Lancers held firm under pressure to secure another home victory. Linganore was led by Jered Boone with 12 points. Middletown was led by Levi Doody.

 

V Urbana 46 Oakdale 34 Oakdale fell in a hard-fought matchup. Urbana was led by a balanced scoring effort, with Xavier Cresta pacing the Hawks with 13 points. Jaxon Marshall added 10 points, while Alex Tate chipped in 9 to help Urbana pull away and secure the win. Oakdale was led by Luke Schmoltres, who finished with a game-high 16 points. Vinny Favarulo contributed 7 points for the Bears, but Oakdale struggled to keep pace with Urbana’s steady offense throughout the game.

 

JV Urbana 49 Oakdale 22 - The Hawks stepped on their home court for the first time and immediately got to work with efficient passing, tough defense, and a fast start by Imran Lamin with six points in route to a 10-0 first quarter lead. The Bears settled down in the 2nd period getting dribble penetration baskets from Gavin Absalon but the Hawks continued to share the ball and two great assists by Bryan Lei to Evan Nwaneri allowed them to extend the lead to 21-6 at the half. The Hawks picked up the pressure in the 3rd period and scored in bunches to push the lead up and held the Bears to two points in the 4th period to finish the game. Urbana had a balanced scoring contribution with eight players getting in the books led by Imran Lamin and Jionno Jones with nine a piece. Oakdale was led by Gavin Absalon and Caleb Clark with six a piece.

 

Varsity – TJ 42, Mt. Airy 37 The game started with Mt. Airy jumping out to a 9 to 5 lead in the first quarter. Mt. Airy continued to lead into halftime with a 19-13 lead. TJs pressure and dominance on defense helped claw back in the second half out scoring Mt. Airy 14-8 in the 3rd Quarter. 4th Quarter started with TJ applying full court defensive pressure witch seem to rattle Mt. Airy holding them to just 10 points in the 4th quarter. TJ was led by Paris Kenney who led all scorers with 12 points, followed by Gabe A and Josh T who both chipped in with 8 points each. Mt. Airy was led by Nathan H with 11 points, coming up big with timely buckets that kept Mt.Airy in the game.

 

JV - Mt Airy 37 TJMS 20 Very evenly played game quarter 1 and 2 with Mt. Airy leading by 2 at the half. However, Adam Menion 17 points in the second half made all the difference to take Mt Airy to the win. Mt. Airy was lead in scoring by Adam Menion with 19 points. TJMS highest scorer was William Opeku with 6 points.

 

Crestwood varsity rolled past Windsor Knolls 60-26. The Cavaliers played most of the game in transition, converting off costly Wolverine turnovers and capitalizing with layups on the offensive end. Going into halftime, Crestwood led 31-13 and never looked back. The Cavs were led by Isaiah Gions with 15 points and Kai Dorsey with 13 points.

 

JV: Windsor Knolls led wire to wire as they took down Crestwood 56-31. Both teams got off to slow offensive starts, with the Wolverines leading 3-2 after the first quarter. Windsor Knolls’ aggressive half-court defense continually gave Crestwood trouble throughout the next three quarters, forcing them into some costly turnovers and leading to fast break opportunities on the offensive end. The Wolverines’ scoring was led by Silas Lane, who finished with a game high of 16, and Elliot Malt, who added 14. Crestwood’s DeSean Lawrence led his team with 11 points.

 

Boonsboro varsity 48, Catoctin 35 Catoctin closed the first quarter strong when Chris Smallwood knocked down a deep three-pointer at the buzzer to cut Boonsboro’s lead to 13–10. At halftime, Boonsboro maintained control with a 22–16 advantage. The third quarter proved to be the difference, as Boonsboro took over behind sharp shooting from Kaiden Lewis and Eric Toll. Boonsboro outscored Catoctin 17–5 in the period to build a commanding 39–21 lead. Catoctin showed resilience in the fourth quarter, mounting a late rally and cutting the deficit to within 10 points, but the comeback attempt fell short. Kaiden Lewis led all scorers with 16 points, including two three-pointers, and was followed by Eric Toll with 11 points for Boonsboro. Catoctin was led by Weston Tyler with 9 points, while Eli Yocum added 6 points.

 

Boonsboro jayvee topped Catoctin 42-13. They locked down their defense and rained three’s in a dominate third quarter. L. Jordee lead Boonsboro with 13 points with and with 3 from downtown. B. Keaton had 10 points. Levi Baker lead Catoctin with 7.

 

West Frederick varsity defeated Smithsburg 62-41. The teams battled back and forth and were tied at halftime before West Frederick pulled ahead in the second half and cruised. West Frederick was lead in scoring by Tyler Morgan with 14 points and Kai Rodgers chipped in 12 points.

 

West Frederick jayvee defeated Winters Mill 42-31 lead by an outstanding performance by Caiden Layer who paced West Frederick with 24 points.

 

Brunswick varsity 57-FSK 35. It was a hard fought 1st half with Brunswick leading 23-19 at halftime. Brunswick took control in the 3rd quarter out-scoring FSK 19-10. Brunswick was led by Taylor Black who had 16 of his 28 points in the Second Half. Emery Tritch had 11 points scoring seven in the second half and Chris Lopez had Seven of his Nine points in the 1st half. FSK was led by Cam Bullock with 14 points and did a nice job handling Brunswick's pressure. Caleb Sellman finished 12 points

 

FSK jayvee 32 Brunswick 31. A nail-biter that came down to the final moments. Caiden Frock sealed the victory at the free-throw line with the go-ahead shot, finishing with 6 points and 3 steals. Landon Myers dominated the glass, posting a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with 8 points and 3 steals in a monster effort. Jonny Diehl added 9 points to help push FSK to the win. Brunswick was led by Brody McLane with 13 points, while Mason Eye and Andrew Sindler each chipped in 8 points in the hard-fought loss.

 

6TH - Brunswick 43 FSK 38. The first quarter ended with Brunswick ahead by 2 after a 3 pointer by James. Brunswick pulled ahead in the fourth outscoring the Eagles 11-7. FSK was lead by Brady Crawmer with 16 points and 5 steals. Owen Myers added 9 points and 3 assists, Connor Bullock added 6 points with 2 steals and Lincoln Monteau added 5 points and 9 rebounds. For Brunswick, James led the team with 23 points while Parker added 8 and Camden added 7 points to the victory.

 

6TH - The Ballenger Bulldogs opened their season with a thrilling overtime victory, edging Smithsburg 34-32 in a back and forth battle that stayed tight from start to finish. Ballenger grabbed an early 8-7 lead at the end of first quarter, but Smithsburg responded in the second, outscoring the Bulldogs 9-5 to take the 16-13 advantage at the half. The second half featured nonstop momentum swings as both teams traded buckets. Smithsburg Joseph Mason caught fire for the Leopards , scoring 11 of his game-high 19 points in the second half. With just 38 seconds left in remaining in regulation and the Bulldogs clinging to a 31-28 Lead, Mason drilled a deep three Steph Curry style – to tie the game at 31 to force an overtime. Ballenger’s Andrew Kremnitzer, quiet in the first half took control down the stretch. He scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half providing the spark the Bulldogs needed to pullout the dramatic win, Grayson Kopp added 6 points for the Bulldogs. For Smithsburg Nash Byrd and Jackson Malagari chipped in 4 points a piece for the Leopards. \

 

6TH - Oakdale 38 Urbana 33 The Bears held off the Hawks, controlling the game from start to finish. Oakdale built a five-point advantage by halftime and maintained its lead throughout the second half, fending off several Urbana pushes down the stretch. Dominic Jackson led Oakdale with a strong performance, scoring 16 points, while Owen Farley added 10 to provide key offensive support. For Urbana, Sawyer Smith paced all Hawks scorers with 18 points and Roman Summers chipped in 4 points in the loss.

 

6TH - Boonsboro defeated Catoctin 53 to 35. Boonsboro‘s Fawley led the team with 30 points. Catoctin was led by Bryce Rickerd with 19 points and Xavier Meekins with 12 points.

 

TJ, BALLENGER CREEK SPLIT MIDWEEK DOUBLEHEADER - 12/11

Varsity – TJ 51, Ballenger 36 The game started with TJ jumping out to a 7 to 0 lead only to see Ballenger claw back scoring 5 un-answered points closing the quarter 7 to 5. The second began with Ballenger picking up their offense while holding TJ to 5 and scoring 14 closing the half with a 5-point lead 19 to 14. The third started with TJ applying full court defensive pressure with seem to rattle the Bulldogs, creating multiple turnovers which led to several quick scoring opportunities. Closing the third with a 31 to 25 lead. The fourth was all TJ outplaying Ballenger on both sides of the ball. TJ’s balance second half scoring and defensive play held the Bulldog to a total 17 for the half. TJ was led by Paris Kenney who led all scorers with 20, followed by Gabe Ayala with 12, the Bulldogs were led by Kobe Shareef with 16 followed by Eli Gomez with 8.

 

Ballenger Creek javee defeated TJ 59–22. Ballenger got off to a strong start building a commanding 33–8 lead by halftime. TJ put their best effort forward but Ballenger continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring the Patriots 23–14 over the final two quarters to cruise to victory. The Bulldogs spread the scoring around, with almost the entire team scoring at least 2 points. Leading scorers for Ballenger: AJ Asameyong with 17 points Jonathan Bankole with 12 points Benai Underwood with 9 points. Leading scorers for TJ: Vincent Casagrande with 9 points Quinten Miller with 4 points LJ Scott with 4 points 

 

SMITHSBURG PULLS OFF TRIFECTA; SMITHSBURG, URBANA, WESTMINSTER DOUBLE UP - 12/07

Urbana varsity defeated Crestwood 40-24. Both teams put their defenses on display in the first quarter, with only 8 points combined and the score knotted at 4 apiece. The Hawks’ scoring picked up in the second quarter, with Xavier Cresta and Gavin Zmuda continually getting to the line and making good on their free throws. In the second half, Urbana continued to clamp down defensively, limiting Crestwood to 5 total points in the 3rd quarter. Despite 10 points from Crestwood’s Damien Wallace Jr. and 9 from Kai Dorsey, Urbana came out on top, led by Xavier Cresta, who scored a game high 13 points.

 

Urbana jayvee won a tightly fought contest against Crestwood 45-32. The Cavaliers quickly fell behind 11-2 by the end of the 1st quarter, but their offense battled back in the 2nd to keep the game within reach. Although Crestwood’s press forced several Urbana turnovers in the second half, the Hawks lit it up from behind the arc and came out with the victory. Urbana’s Jionni Jones finished with a game high of 19 points, shooting 8-8 from the free throw line and connecting on two 3’s. Crestwood’s A’veion Cain had a team high of 9 points.

 

Varsity Oakdale 54 Windsor Knolls 18 The Wolverines came out cold and tentative against an aggressive Oakdale Bears team. Luke Scholtes dominated the qtr scoring 11 of his game high 14 early. Mathew Osage-Addo added 4 in the period. The second was more of the same as WKMS couldn’t buy a basket and the Bears kept rolling with Carlos Miguel hitting his first 3 . Oakdale took a commanding lead at the half. The 3rd period showed more fight out of WKMS with Jeremy Puvirajan getting on the board with a couple of deuces while the Bears Cooper Verner knocked down three. Ryan Ramroop came alive in the 4th with 8 points for the Wolverines and some nice post moves. Carlos Miguel hit his third 3 pointer for Oakdale.Oakdale was led by Luke Scholtes with 14, Carlos Miguel with 9 and Cooper Verner with 8. Windsor Knolls had Ryan Ramrod with 8 and Jeremy Puvirajan with 6.

 

JV Windsor Knolls 51-Oakdale 31 The Wolverines came out strong jumping to a quick 7-0 lead with Elliott Malt quick drives to the basket. The Bears fought back getting four points from their big man Maalo Bangnikon. WK led at the end of the first quarter 11-9. Wk scored six points in the 2nd quarter while Oakdale managed four as the Wolverines held a 17-13 advantage at the half. WK scored the first two points of the 3rd quarter taking a 19-13 lead . The Bears answered quickly, getting back-to-back 3 pointers from Caleb Clark and Riley Hajjar to tie the game at 19 apiece. WK answered with Silas Lane and Elliott Malt hitting back to back 3’s. Lane added another 3 pointer and Malt had a 4 point play as the Wolverine's went on a 21-4 run to take a commanding lead 40-23 heading into the final quarter. Malt and Lane continued to play outstanding basketball hitting for six and eight points in the final quarter. Oakdale’s Bangnikon was tough all game with his rebounding and scoring in the paint finishing with ten points. Hajjar finished with seven. WK was led by Lane and Malt each netting 21 points.

WK’s Johan Ovalles battled all game on the boards against the Bears big men. Ovalles played excellent defense helping ignite the fast breaks for WK and finished with five points. Gassa Djoka also fought hard on the boards against the bigs of Oakland. Seth Mazinga created numerous turnovers, also playing tough defense for the Wolverines.

 

Varsity - Walkersville - 51 - Ballenger Creek - 36. Walkersville started strong with great defensive pressure. 3 pointers and good ball movement helped the Lions take a 13-5 lead after one. More of the same the second quarter, the Lions struggled to finish around the rim, but worked well on the glass getting rebounds. Lions led 24-11 at halftime. In the third the Bulldogs zone packed in and made it harder for the Lions to get open looks. The Lions Kevin Coleman sparked the offense with back to back threes and two defensive stops. Lions lead 37-21 after three. In the fourth, the Bulldogs got a spark with some leak out layups and a three from Vincent Mogavero. The Lions turned up the defensive pressure and took advantage of a short handed Bulldogs team that played hard throughout. Lions win 51-36. The Lions Hudson Beaver led all scorers with 19, 18 from Joseph Wonah, and 8 from Kieran Hamner. The Bulldogs were led by Vincent Mogavero’s 14, and 12 from Kobe Shareef.

 

JV. -Ballenger Creek - 46 Walkersville 35 In a battle of two very physical teams, Ballenger Creeks post presence proved to be a factor with Asameyong providing 20pts which included two very timely 3 pointers. Although walkersville cut the lead to 6 with their full court press and causing turnovers, 8 points from Trey Campbell , 8 points from Colin Ieng it couldn’t hold off a strong ballenger creek offense. Other contributors from Ballenger - 6 from Bankole , 8 from Harrington and 4 from Brown

 

Brunswick Varsity defeated Boonsboro 42-33 in their season opener. Brunswick was led by Chris Lopez, Taylor Black both scoring 14 and Matt Johnson added 10. Boonsboro was led by Gabe Lazo with 8 while Camden Engle and Eric Tall added 7 a piece.

 

Boonsboro JV pulled off a buzzer beater to beat Brunswick 40-39. Braeden Worrell scored 18 points and Landon Jordre had 10 points for Boonsboro. Andrew Sindler scored 11 points and Brody McLane had 10 points for Brunswick.

 

Varsity TJ 47 Linganore 36 In a high-energy showdown, Linganore left it all on the court but came up short against TJ . The Patriots leaned on sharp shooting and timely runs to keep momentum on their side, while the Lancers countered with aggressive defense and quick transitions that kept the crowd engaged. Though Linganore fought hard, the Patriots’ consistency down the stretch proved decisive, giving them the victory. Linganore was led by Colton Kirk with 13 points, with Elliot White providing secondary support. For the Patriots, Landon Kenny delivered a standout performance, tallying a game high 20 points and serving as the driving force behind their offense. Isaac Yanike scored 13 points and Santana Pacheco chipped in 10.

 

JV Linganore 57 TJ 26 The Patriots relied on 3-point shooting, but Linganore’s speed and defensive pressure set the tone early. Late in the first half, TJ briefly grabbed a 12-11 lead with three straight 3-pointers, but the Lancers answered with a run of their own, surging to a 30-13 halftime advantage. In the second half, Linganore continued to dominate, limiting TJ’s offense to long-range attempts. By the final seven minutes, the Lancers had stretched the lead to 45-18, holding the Patriots to just five points in the quarter. With their defense suffocating and offense clicking, Linganore closed out the game in commanding fashion. Leading scorers for the Lancers were Henry Keefer with 18 points and Jered Boone with 10 points. The Patriots were led by Kamari Magett and William Opoku.

 

Westminster varsity 42 FSK 32 Westminster led by Kaden Cotton 13, KJ Cotton 12, CJ Barmoy 11. Caleb Sellman led FSK with 7 pts Constant pressure from Westminster shot them out to a big 1st quarter lead and they held on for victory.

 

Westminster jayvee 39 FSK 32. Westminster led by Richard Carnegie 13 pts, Po Jones 12 pts, and Darien Cartwright 11 pts. Wade Smith led FSK with 8 pts Nice scoring run by the Owls to start the 4th quarter to push a 2 point lead to 10.

 

Mt Airy JV defeated Winters Mill 58-38. Leading scorer for Mount Airy was Jameson Mallare with 20 points, and Jake Batdorff chipped in 8. Mount Airy came out strong with an 18-6 first quarter run and never relinquished the lead. Mount Airy dominated the offensive rebounding with 23 offensive rebounds. Winters Mill was led by Connor Wynne with 9 points.

 

V - Smithsburg 43, Poolesville 28 Vincent Bloom from Smithsburg hit for 10 of his team-high 16 points in the final period to push back against a tough Poolesville squad and help his team record a win over the homesteading Falcons. Smithsburg teammate Jacob Rogers (eight points) also did his share in the fourth quarter, going four-for-four from the line to seal the victory. Luke Glines added seven points in the win, Julian Heiston pitched in five, Maddex Kusolnimit had four, and Landon Pugh finished with three. Poolesville's Johnny Horan put the Falcons on his back with 14 points from all over. Rickey Reyes kicked in five points, Ishant Vayal hit a long three-pointer in the fourth quarter to keep things close, and Max Embry, Ethan Johnson, and Owen Stump each scored in the loss.

 

JV - Smithsburg 38, Poolesville 19 Smithburg pitched a fourth quarter shutout, going on a 12-0 run to break open a tight contest and returning to Washington County with a win. 10 players landed in the Smithsburg scorebook, led by Logan Domenico with eight points (all in the second half), and five points each from Bentley Hobbs, Jay Krumpotich, and Pierce Harshbarger. Will Krumpotich hit a three-pointer to help put the game out of reach. Poolesville kept things close behind a team-high eight points from Jonathan Purner with Chris Horan pitching in four points, George Miller adding three, Samson Hanna and Elliott Ostrander dropping in a bucket each.

 

6TH - Smithsburg 34, Poolesville 30 Smithsburg rode a balanced scoring effort, led by Anthony Sewell with eight points and seven points by Joey Mason, to hold off a determined Poolesville squad. Nash Byrd pitched in six points in the win with Isaac Grove adding four. Poolesville Gordon Dhaity continued his strong start in the MML with a game-high 16 points, including two three-pointers, four-for-six from the line, and 11 points in a furious third-quarter burst that gave the Falcons a two-point lead going into the final quarter. Poolesville also picked up strong efforts from Thaddeus Milliner (six points) and Chase Gilbert and Jacob Bond (four points each) as both teams fought for the win down the stretch.

 

6TH - Brunswick 47 Boonsboro 46 Brunswick jumped out to a 16pt half time lead Boonsboro then settled down in the 3rd quarter and cut the lead to 4 Brunswick pressure was to much for Boonsboro in the 4th quarter. Brunswick was lead by

Kraus 19 and Rhodes 9 Boonsboro was lead by Fawley 15 Conroy and Thompson 7

 

BRUNSWICK, MONOCACY, WALKERSVILLE AND WF LOG SATURDAY SWEEPS - 12/06

Monocacy varsity 43 Crestwood 4 Monocacy led wire to wire, playing excellent defense and was strong on the boards limited Crestwood scoring opportuntunies. The Mustangs were also very balanced on offense with 9 players in the scoring column. Leading the way for Monocacy was Elijah Griffin, finishing with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 boards. Monocacy's Ivie Owolafe scored 7 points, Mason Hodge scored 6 points and played great defense with 7 steals, 4 points each from Gab Nah, Mason Dennis and Alex Dipita, a 3 pointer from Gus Midgette and a point from Kaiyon Stewart. Crestwood's Sean Brown scored 3 points and a free throw from Kai Dorsey.

 

Monocacy jayvee 39 Crestwood 29 Monocacy held a slim 12-9 lead at the end of the first half as either team was able to provide much offense. Monocacy knocked down a few jumpshots in the 3rd quarter, both Cayden Rowe and Devante Cunningham each connected from behind the arc. Heading into the final quarter the Mustangs were up 9, leading 25-16. The Cavaliers continued to fight, forcing some late turnovers, but Monocacy sealed the victory with some clutch free throws from Devante Cunnningham and 4 buckets in the paint from Zuriel Ashu. Monocacy's Zuriel Ashu was the game high scorer with 17 points, Devante Cunningham added 10 points, 6 from Cayden Rowe, and 3 each from Thomas Foreman and Finn Sanford. Crestwood was led by their guards which accounted for most of their offense. Leading the way for the Cavaliers was Jayvion Taylor finishing with 9 points, 5 points a piece from A'veion Cain and DeSean Lawrence, 3 each from Trevin Harris and Lance Catud and 2 points from both Jeremiah Adeyemi and Ezekial Rodriguez.

 

TJ's varsity Patriots took care of business with a strong 50–34 victory over Middletown with balanced scoring and tough defense from start to finish. Paris Kenney led the offensive attack with 17 points, 7 rebounds while Isaac Yanike (10pts), Santana Pacheco(8pts),London Kenney and Gabe Ayala (5pts) added key buckets to keep momentum on TJ’s side throughout the game. The Patriots controlled the pace, created turnovers, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, allowing them to pull away in the second half.

 

Middletown jayvee 47 TJ 34 TJMS got off to a good start but Middletown came back with some inside strength to win the game. Levi Doody lead Middletown with 17 points. Next highest scorer for Middletown was Cam Larson with 9 pts. Middletown came on strong the 2nd quarter scoring 21 of their 47 points. TJMS played a even 3rd and 4th Quarter. Leading scorer for TJMS was Vincent Casagrande.

 

Mt. Airy varsity 40 Linganore 15 The first quarter saw the two teams trade baskets for the first couple of minutes. Linganore's Cooper Davis hit a layup but was answered by Christian Burke for Mt. Airy. Zach Peart then gave Mt. Airy the lead but that was answered by Colton Kirk for the Lancers. The Bulldogs defense started to take over and they ended the 1st quarter with an 8-4 lead. Mt. Airy stretched the lead to 13-5 in the 2nd with buckets from Miller and free throws from Cole Willingham and Gavin Hymiller. Linganore closed the lead to 13-9 with a big three-pointer from Daniel Cioffi but that was as close as Linganore would get. Mt. Airy closed the 2nd quarter on a 6-0 run with a bucket from Willingham and a three from Miller to extend the lead to 19-9 at the half. The Bulldogs offense got going in the 3rd quarter as they scored 13 points in the frame. Henry Huffman got the scoring going with a driving layup, Benny Garcia hit a big three, and Nathan Hartman added a layup to put the Bulldogs up 32-12 at the end of three. Mt. Airy's defense remained stout throughout the second half only giving up 6 points as the Bulldogs. Leading Scorers Mt. Linganore jayvee 32 Mt. Airy 24 It was a defensive battle. Linganore led 11-8 headed into the third quarter when Mt Airy went on a run and took the lead 19-16. Linganore bounced back to start the fourth quarter with some timely transition buckets and strong defense at the end to pull out the win. Henry Keefer and Matthew Marcellino led the Lancers with 8 points a piece and Chase Walker added 7 points. Kam McCarthy led the Bulldogs with 8 points while Adam Menino added 6 points of his own.

 

Varsity: Walkersville 43 Oakdale 26 — Walkersville set the tone early, jumping out to a quick lead and never surrendering control. Oakdale trimmed the margin slightly before halftime, but Walkersville responded with a strong 16 point third quarter to put the game out of reach. For Walkersville, Joseph Wonah paced all scorers with 12 points, with Nicholas Hartman adding 10 and Hudson Beaver contributing 8. Oakdale was led by Cooper Verner with 13 points and Luke Scholtes with 10.

 

JV: Walkersville 29 Oakdale 26. Oakdale battled from start to finish in a high-energy matchup that featured big runs, tough defense, and clutch scoring on both sides. Despite a strong push late in the game, Oakdale came up just short, falling in a competitive contest that stayed tight until the final whistle. Leading scorers for Oakdale Maalo Bangnikon (14) and Gavin Kolick (8). Leading scorers for Walkersville Anthony Wallace (12) and Jalen White (6).

 

West Frederick varsity pulled out to a big first quarter lead and defeated Westminster 65-37. Tyler Morgan and Dennis Pair both scored 15 points for West Frederick with Grant Dunlevy and Jaydon Goodridge supporting the dominant effort with 8 points a piece. For Westminster, #14 Barmoy scored 14 points to lead the Owls in scoring with #15 Fetterhoff pitching in 11 points.

 

JV: West Frederick pulled out a close game over Westminster 34-33. West Frederick was lead in scoring by Bryce Necciai with 11 clutch points with K'Daeveon "Diggy" Onley chipping in 10. Westminster was lead in scoring by #14 Jones with 9 points.

 

Varsity - Brunswick 56 Catoctin 26. Brunswick opened the game with a dominant 10–0 run and carried that momentum into halftime with a commanding 26–9 lead. Catoctin managed to get to the foul line and put several Brunswick players in foul trouble, but they couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities, struggling to convert at the stripe. Brunswick pulled away in the second half and closed out a 56–26 victory. Taylor Black led all scorers with 19 points, while Chris Lopez added 10. Catoctin was paced by Jeremy Veronie, who finished with 8 points.

 

JV - Brunswick 52 Catoctin 28 Brunswick turned up the heat in the second half, outscoring Catoctin 18-4 in the third quarter to cruise to a dominant win. After holding a narrow 21-17 lead at halftime, the Roaders exploded on both ends of the court, showcasing a lethal blend of offense and lockdown defense that the Cougars couldn't contain. McLane and Grzymkoski led the charge, each scoring 10 points, while Rye and Sindler contributed 8 apiece, with Sindler lighting up the perimeter with two big three-pointers. Luke Wiles kept Catoctin in the hunt, finishing as the game's leading scorer with 12 points while Levi Baker chipped in 7. Max Vazquez was a force in the paint, grabbing 8 rebounds

 

Smithsburg varsity 36 FSK 17. Smithsburg jumped out to a nice 1st half lead by finishing the half leading 14-2. Smithsburg played steady throughout the entirety of the game taking care of the ball and capitalizing on good ball movement to keep the lead. They were led by Landon Pugh tallying 13 points including two from downtown. Jake Rodgers finished with seven for Smithsburg. Chris Burton and Caleb Sellmen led FSK with five points each and Cam Bullock did a nice job handling Smithsburg pressure and limited turnovers.

 

FSK jayvee 33 Smithsburg 31. The win was sealed by a last-second three-pointer from Wade Smith. The Eagles were led offensively by Liam Trotman with 10 points, followed by Jonny Diehl with 6 and Dylan Olson with 5. On the defensive end, Caiden Frock set the tone with 5 steals, while Camden Rutter controlled the boards with 9 rebounds. Smithsburg was led by Logan Domenico with 10 points and Lincoln Brown with 8.

 

6TH - FSK 33 Smithsburg 29. At the end of the first half Smithsburg led 15-14 but FSK added 15 points in the 3rd quarter to pull ahead. Smithsburg cut the lead in the 4th scoring 9 points to FSK's 4, however could not regain the lead. FSK was lead in scoring by Brady Crawmer with 13 points. Lincoln Monteau had 10 points and Connor Bullock added 6 points to the win. Smithsburg was lead by Joseph Mason with 7 points. Jackson Malagari and Derrick Harris each added 4 points.

 

6TH - Oakdale 48 – Boonsboro 14 Oakdale delivered a dominant performance from start to finish, overwhelming Boonsboro on both ends of the floor. The Bears controlled the tempo early, held Boonsboro to just 8 first-half points, and never looked back. Leading scorers for Oakdale Dominic Jackson (16) and Ryan Hessman (8). Boonsboro leading scorers Hunter Thompson (6), Colton Cook (2), and Mikko Deuboue (2).

 

6TH - Brunswick 55 Catoctin 15 The Railroaders got off to a fast start and were led in scoring by James and Parker who both ended with 16 points. Catoctin was led in scoring by Bryce Rickerd with four points.

 

SEASON OPENS WITH A PAIR OF SPLITS, ONE OVERTIME DECISION - 11/30

V- Poolesville 36, Catoctin 30 (OT) Poolesville took control in overtime against Catoctin on Sunday, outscoring the visitors 7-1 in the extra period to record a hard-fought win. The Falcons were paced in OT by Ricky Reys (nine points), who hit a long three to ice the game. Poolesville also picked up big games from top-scoring Johnny Horan (15 points) and Dom Sheehan (10 points). Jackson Kavanaugh also dropped in a bucket in the win. For Catoctin, Weston Tyler (10 points, including 3 for 4 from the free throw line) and Eli Yokum (10 points, one point in OT) all keyed the Cougars second half surge and helped and pushed the game into overtime. Nathanael Fountain (four points), Jeremy Veronie, James Clements, and Chris Smallwood each had second half buckets to force the extra period.

JV - Catoctin 20, Poolesville 19 Catoctin made sure overtime wasn't in the cards for their game against Poolesville. Luke Wiles caught fire in the second half, scoring 11 of his game-high 13 points, including three three-pointers, to propel the visitors to a nail-biting win over host Poolesville. Reece Evangelista (three points), Levi Baker (two points), and Connor McGrew also scored for Catoctin in the win.Thanks to the efforts of Samson Harris (12 points) and Jonathan Purner (six points), plus a free throw from Elliott Ostrander, the Falcons pushed out to an early lead before the see-saw tilt went in Catoctin's direction.

Brunswick Varsity 51 Windsor Knolls 41. Trailing by two at the half, Brunswick outscored visiting Windsor Knolls by twelve after the break to win the season-opener.  Seven players scored for Brunswick in the contest, including a game high 20 points from Chris Lopez.  Taylor Black recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds for Brunswick.  Windsor Knoll’s Jeremy Puvirajan matched Lopez with a game high 20 points.  Achilleas Moutafis added seven points for Windsor Knolls.

Windsor Knolls JV 45- Brunswick 27.  The first half of the game was a close one, with Windsor Knolls going into the half with a 17-13 lead. But Windsor Knolls second half produced a multitude of turnovers with the half court press that led to the first five baskets in transition to WK mounting a lead that Brunswick could not overcome. Silas Lane led WK with 13 points while Johan Ovalles and Elliott Malt both added 11. Brunswick was led in scoring by AJ Sindler with 11 points (nine of which came from the three-point line).  Brody McLane added seven while Mason Eye scored five.

6TH - Oakdale 46 Brunswick 24- The game opened evenly with both teams trading early baskets, but late in the second quarter Oakdale pulled ahead and maintained the lead. The Bears were powered by Dominic Jackson (17 points) and Miles Absalon (13 points), who supplied the offensive spark needed to separate them from the Railroaders. Brunswick’s Kraus had a double-double (10 points/17 rebounds) followed by Barnes-Houck (six points) and Smith (six points).
 
6TH - Catoctin fought off a strong third quarter surge by Poolesville to beat the Falcons by a final score of 40-21. Catoctin’s attack was paced by Jayden Allen (10 points), Bryce Rickard (eight points), and Cole McCauley and Xavier Meekins (seven points each), whose scoring balance helped build and maintain a steady lead. Catoctin also picked up buckets from Holden Ruiz-Beach (four points), Chase Shoemaker, and Stefan Trica. Poolesville was led by Gordon Dhaity (nine points), who provided the bulk of the scoring inside, while Bryce Newman (four points) added key baskets during the team’s best offensive stretch. Jacob Bond (two points, four steals) and Chad Stradley (two points, team-high offensive and defensive rebounds) brought major defensive impact, and Thaddeus Milliner (two points) rounded out the scoring for the Falcons. Poolesville came alive after halftime, putting up 12 points in the third quarter with improved ball movement and defensive energy from the entire rotation, including Everett Hedrick’s steady floor leadership.
