Keene, Mystic Walk It Off Into a Warm NECBL Tuesday Night
North Shore Navigators vs. Keene SwampBats

Keene, NH - The Keene SwampBats walked it off against the North Shore Navigators, defeating them 4-2
The Navigators got the scoring off earlier in the top of the first when Alex Marot (Charleston Southern) singled to right field to bring in Sam Parks (Stonehill). The North Shore defense was able to shut out the league best SwampBats in the next two innings totaling only two hits allowed.
Keene was able to tie the ballgame up in the bottom of the third when Dylan Cupp (Dallas Baptist) launched the ball over the wall for a solo homerun.
The Navigators quickly took the lead back in the top of the fourth when Alex Marot, standing at third and hungry for a base,stole home and brought in the run to take the lead. The Navigators defense was able to keep Keene off the scoreboard for the next three innings, striking out a total four strikeouts.
The SwampBats tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with a Xavier Perez (Houston) solo home run, however the Navigators took the lead right back in the top of the ninth as Nater Wachter (UConn) walked home for the lead.
In the bottom of the Ninth, the Keene SwampBats were able to quickly get two men on thor dna second following two outstanding at-bats, then Ty Mainolfi (Dayton) stepped up toe plate and lined a single to center field and the two runs trotted home to secure the victory of the SwampBats
The Navigators pitcher, Cole Yannaco (Merrimack), was issued a loss. The Keene pitcher Jack Malone (Samford) was issued a win on the season
The Keene SwampBats are back in action as they head to North Adams to play the Steeplecats. The Navigators return to action Friday night as they travel to Rhode Island to face the Gulls of Newport.
Sanford Mainers vs. Danbury Westerners
Final Score: Danbury 8, Sanford 1
Danbury, CT — Capped off with a Kyle Garbowski (Quinnipiac) grand slam, the Danbury Westerners cruised to an emphatic 8-1 victory over the Sanford Mainers.
The Westerners got off to a hot start, scoring two in the bottom of the first off RBI singles from Peter Link (Sacred Heart) and Aidan Paradine (Siena). They added another in the third when William Cook (Wright State) singled and came home on a Grayson Sparr (Stonehill) double.
The score remained 3-0 until the bottom of the seventh, when Garrett Larsen (Yale) reached on an error, stole second and third, and scored on Link’s second RBI of the game on a sac fly to center. Sanford managed to squeak one across in the top of the eighth, as a Blake Schaaf (Georgetown) single scored Kellen Strohmeyer (Iowa). But Danbury responded, as Garbowski’s grand slam, his third hit of the day, gave the Westerners a commanding 8-1 lead heading into the final inning of play. Danbury’s closer Andrew Koshy (Maryland) wouldn’t let the Mainers back in it, though, as he pitched the ninth without giving up a hit.
Sanford hits double-digit losses on the year, falling to 4-10, while Danbury improves to 5-7. The Mainers are back on the road tomorrow as they take on the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 pm, while Danbury also travels to Newport to take on the Gulls for a 6:35 pm contest.
Martha’s Vineyard Sharks vs Vermont Mountaineers
Final Score: Martha’s Vineyard 10, Vermont 5
Montpelier, VT — Fueled by a four run first inning, the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks took down the Vermont Mountaineers 10-5 in a high scoring, high hitting Tuesday night battle.
After the Bristol Blues played spoiler in extending the Sharks’ seven game winning streak, Martha’s Vineyard was hungry to get back in the win column. They came out hot, putting up six runs in the first two innings combined. A two RBI single from Jamal George (Texas A&M) highlighted their big first, putting the Mountaineers behind early.
Vermont was able to respond in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single from Braeden Smith (Charleston), but the Sharks were quick to take the lead back as a Will Hampton (Vanderbilt) two RBI single put Martha’s Vineyard in front, 6-1.
Vermont added two more runs in the third with RBIs from Brendan Buecker (Monmouth) and Sam Gates (George Washington), cutting the lead in half. They added another in the bottom of the third off a Addison Ainsworth (Army) RBI single, but were never able to come within reach of the Sharks. Leading 6-5, the Sharks added two in the sixth, one in the seventh, and one in the eighth, powered by a pair of doubles by Ryder Dykstra (USC) to put the score at 10-5.
Luca Alagheband (Harvard) earned the win for the Sharks, while Ryan Brown (Mount St. Mary’s), who entered in relief in just the first inning, was issued the loss. The Sharks, now 9-7, host the Ocean State Waves tomorrow at 7:05 pm while the Mountaineers get two days off before they travel to take on the Valley Blue Sox.
Ocean State Waves vs Upper Valley Nighthawks

South Kingstown, RI — The Upper Valley Nighthawks scored early and never trailed as they defeated the Ocean State Waves, 7-4, on Tuesday night at Old Mountain Field.
Upper Valley struck first in the opening frame when Anthony Brotz (Marist) singled, stole second, and came home on Anthony Greco’s (William & Mary) RBI single. The Nighthawks then added three more in the second. Nick Shuhet (Rider) singled, and Ryan MacDougall (Dayton) followed with a two-run homer to right-center. Nick Monile (North Florida) walked, Brotz singled, and Jack Spanier (Minnesota) doubled to score Monile and stretch the lead to 4-0.
An error on the second baseman scored Cooper Blauser (Jacksonville St) in the top of the fourth, and Upper Valley added two more in the fifth on a bases-loaded RBI walk from Monile and another Brotz single.
The seven-run cushion for the Nighthawks held off some late scoring from the Waves, who put up three runs off the bat of Justin Hackett (Bryant) for his first home run of the season. But Hackett wasn’t done there. In the seventh, he homered again, this time a solo shot that put the game at a 7-4 score, which would be the final.
JT Guerrero (Grand Canyon) earned the win with five innings of three-run ball, while Matteo Wells (High Point) picked up the save with a clean ninth. Ocean State starter Michael Hilker Jr. (Arizona) took the loss, allowing four runs over three innings.
Upper Valley will take the day off on Wednesday before returning to action on Thursday and traveling to face the Mystic Schooners. As for Ocean State, they’ll take a trip to Martha’s Vineyard to face the Sharks Wednesday night.
Mystic Schooners vs North Adams Steeplecats
Final Score: Schooners 6, Steeplecats 5
Mystic, CT – The Mystic Schooners walked off their matchup against the North Adams Steeplecats on Tuesday night, coming out victorious 6-5. With the win, Mystic improves to 7-8 while North Adams falls to 3-9.
The Schooners got the scoring action started in the bottom of the second with a Michael Torres (Miami) bases-loaded RBI walk, and kept it rolling into the third inning. Davis Johnson (Notre Dame) was hit by a pitch, then stole second, and was driven in by Jake Kernodle (Princeton) to make it 2-0. Mystic capitalized on a North Adams error as well, scoring two runs off an Anthony Belisario (UConn) sacrifice fly and putting the Schooners up 4-0.
The Steeplecats would respond with their own three-run inning in the fourth. With runners on second and third, Robert Stang (Dayton) launched his second home run of the year to bring North Adams back within one run. The game would remain scoreless till the home half of the seventh when Johnson joined in on the home run party, ripping his second home run and making it 5-3 Mystic.
In the top of the ninth, Owen Arias (Central Connecticut State) singled to score Eli Gries-Smith (Arkansas) and bring the Steeplecats within one. With runners on second and third, Damian Rodriguez (Iona) capitalized on a wild pitch, coming home to score and knotting the game up at 5-5. The Schooners didn’t crumble, though, escaping the jam and walking the game off in the bottom of the inning. Eric Cha (Northeastern) singled to score Nick Locurto, and the game was over. Toby Scheidt (Bryant) was credited with the win for Mystic while Eli Bridenthal (Xavier) was given the loss.
The Schooners will host the Sanford Mainers Wednesday evening, while the Steeplecats will return home to take on the first-place Keene SwampBats.
