
Pat Robles began the 2018 season as the Gems pitching coach. He took over manager duties in mid-season and led the team to a 14-5 record in the final three weeks. A native of Midland, TX, Robles is the Associate Head Coach/Pitching Coach at McCook CC in McCook, Nebraska. As a player, he starred at Cedar Valley College and was a spring training invite by the Minnesota Twins in 2015. He played independent league ball with the Trinidad Triggers in the Pecos League. Robles coached for Minnesota West Community College in 2016-17. The team was 29-18 (14-2) and won the MCAC South Division. He led the pitching staff to a top-10 ranking in the country in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings. His staff led the MCAC in strikeouts, strikeouts per nine innings and ERA. Robles helped with the development of two All-Region players (2018 Gems players Jose Martinez and Eric Alicea) and a NJCAA 3rd team All-American (Alicea).
Robles is looking forward to the 2019 season with the Gems. “I am excited about being back in Quincy and helping the club reach a Prospect League Championship,” Robles said. “The 2019 Summer will be a player development summer where each kid will get mobility and strength assessments. Along with individual programming to help them not only play games but develop them over the summer. I am excited and thankful of Jimmie for giving me this great opportunity and I am excited as well to get a championship product team on the field for the great fans and people of Quincy.”
Robles works solely with the Driveline Baseball Throwing Protocols and Motus to help with pitching development.
