Arizona Diamondback OF A.J. Pollock (Vermont ’07) was named to the National League All-Star team tonight.  Through Sunday, Pollock was hitting .303 with 10 homers, 38 RBI and 18 steals.  Pollock ranked 11th in the National League in batting average and fifth in steals.

It is Pollock’s first All-Star game.

Pollock’s selection marks the seventh year out of the last eight that an NECBL graduate has been named a Major League All-Star.  Pollock is the eighth alumnus to make an All-Star game and his selection marks the 15th time an NECBL graduate has played in the Major League Mid-Summer Classic.

As a Mountaineer Pollock, then a freshman at Notre Dame, hit .348 with 15 doubles and 13 steals in 14 attempts.  The Hebron, CT native led the NECBL in doubles and won the New England League’s Christopher Ashmos 10th Player Award and earned a selection to the NECBL’s Second Team.
The NECBL congratulates A.J. on this significant accomplishment.
