Team Information

About The Program

Towson University Tigers men's ice hockey competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) in the highest division; men's division 1. The Tigers also compete in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA) for league play against, George Mason, Lehigh, Navy, Temple, Villanova, West Chester, and William Patterson The program was founded by Marshall Stevenson, and began play in 1986-1987. Stevenson had an illustrious career where he was named to the ACHA Hall of Fame as a Builder in 2016*.

The team practices three to four times per week in the mornings from 7:30 - 8:45am, and participates in a competitive schedule with two games every weekend. The team aims to play thirty to forty games per season including playoffs. The season runs from the first week in September when training camp are held, through the end of February. Also, the team holds mandatory study hours every week.

The Tigers home rink, Ice World, is about a twenty-five minute drive from campus. At the rink, the team is provided with a locker room and storage room where all gear, jerseys, supplies, and equipment is held. The team also helps out at many practices for the youth program, the Harford North Stars, whom also play out of Ice World.

Program Costs

The Towson University Men's ice hockey team costs to play are $1000 for the Fall semester and $500 for the Spring. Included in the cost to play, each player receives:

  • Home and away game socks
  • Practice jersey
  • Practice Socks
  • White, black, and clear tape
  • Transportation and hotel for away games
  • Meals on overnight trips
  • Unlimited skate sharpening 
  • Helmet stickers 

New Players Pay a $300 Equipment fee which includes:

  • Player Bag
  • Bauer Team Gloves
  • Bauer Team Pants

Additional costs/equipment:

  • Team Under Armour apparel ($90-$600)
    • Sweatpants, sweatshirt, shorts, t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, duffle bag, backpack, hats, etc...
  • White and black helmets

Home Rink

Home Rink - Ice World

Ice World opened in 1996 as a twin rink facility located in suburban Harford County, Maryland. Open year round with eight team locker rooms, a full service Snack Bar, and state of the art Pro Shop. Located 25 minutes off campus, Towson ice hockey has called Ice World home for over a decade. In 2018, the team added the team's first ever dedicated locker room.
