In the 42nd game of the year Effrey Valdez broke a record that had stood for over ten years. With the bases loaded in the fourth inning Effrey singled in a fellow All-American for the 42nd time this year. The RBI record was set in 1998 by Bud Blair of the Central Mass Collegians and was tied the very next  year by NECBL great Mark Malaska of Danbury.

Effrey also made his mark on Lowell’s record books as he set a doubles record with 16 which also tied an NECBL record. His league leading 54 hits were good enough for second most in a seaon by an All-American.

Over two seasons with Lowell Valdez amassed 102 hits, 28 doubles, 61 RBI, and hit a combined .331.
