NECBL Announces Participants for ASG Skills Competitions
Over 30 players to participate in HR Derby, 60-Yard Dash, OF Accuracy Throwing Contests
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – On the heels of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) announcing the rosters for the 2014 All-Star Game, the league is pleased to unveil the group of over 30 participants who will partake in the 2014 All-Star Game Skills Competitions on Sunday at MacKenzie Stadium.
The Skills Competitions will consist of three contests: an Outfield Throwing Accuracy Contest; a 60-Yard Dash to determine the league’s fastest runner; and the annual Home Run Derby to round out the trio of events.
After both Divisions take batting practice, the Outfield Throwing Accuracy Contest will be held at approximately 1:35 p.m., featuring 10 different competitors who will vie for the top cannon of an arm in the league. Each competitor will take turns throwing from center field to home plate, and the throw deemed most accurate will be crowned the winner.
Following that, 11 of the league’s speediest student-athletes will partake in the 60-yard Dash at approximately 1:55 p.m. Simply enough, each competitor will have two trials, with the quickest time being declared the winner.
Finally, everyone’s favorite skills test – the Home Run Derby – will take place at approximately 2:15 p.m., showcasing 10 of the league’s most powerful bats, each of which will swing away at MacKenzie Stadium’s spacious outfield dimensions to vie for the title of NECBL Home Run Derby Champion.
