Laconia Muskrats Announce Name Change

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Laconia Muskrats, a longtime member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) located in the Lakes Region in New Hampshire, have announced a team name change; beginning today, the organization will now be known as the Winnipesaukee Muskrats, as announced by Kristian Svindland, newly appointed General Manager of the organization.

The following was provided by an official press release provided by the Winnipesaukee Muskrats organization:

“This name change is one of several initiatives for the Muskrats’ 2016 season,” stated General Manager, Kristian Svindland. “Laconia is our home, and the city’s Parks Department and Commission have been, and continue to be, great partners. However, the team is for the entire Lakes Region, which is why we’re changing the name to the Winnipesaukee Muskrats. Robbie Mills Field is under 30 minutes to Alton, 25 minutes to Interstate 93 in Tilton, and less than 20 minutes to downtown Meredith. Even the Speedway and downtown Plymouth are within 30 minutes of the Park. The affordable, family fun that we have to offer encompasses everyone in and around the Big Lake.

“The Muskrats attract some of the top collegiate players in the country, and the host families for these players are all residents of the greater Lake Winnipesaukee region, and not limited to Laconia. We want to encourage our neighbors from Franklin to Wolfeboro, Belmont to Plymouth to attend games and cheer on these potential major leaguers,” continued Svindland.

The team’s new name and logo have been approved by the New England Collegiate Baseball League and Marko, the Mascot, will continue to rally fans at the field and within the Community. New uniforms, hats  and merchandise will be available soon. Check the team’s website (www.muskratsbaseball.com) for updates.

The Winnipesaukee Muskrats organization is a Summer collegiate baseball team that brings the best college baseball players from across the country to play at Robbie Mills Field in Laconia, New Hampshire. The Muskrats are a member of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League. The Muskrats joined the NECBL in October 2009 and are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that depends on community support and volunteers for its existence and continued operation.
