Athletic Trainers and Medical Team 

 

Lee Day William Lee Day has a Doctorate of Physical Therapy as well as well a certification in Athletic Training, a Master’s in Exercise Physiology, and a certification in strength and conditioning from the NSCA. During the course of his career, Dr. Day has worked with several professional sports teams including the New York Giants, the World League of American Football, the Bridgeport Bluefish, the Sound Tigers, and Arena Football, as well as consulting for the New York Mets. Currently, he is the Medical Director for the Danbury Whalers, the Western Connecticut Militia, and for the Danbury Westerners as well as consulting for several local high school athletic programs. 

 

Dr. Day started an outpatient physical therapy management company that is in partnership with Connecticut Family Orthopedics and is the premier sports medicine provider in the greater Danbury area. He also is the owner of AON Physical Therapy & Wellness, with four offices in Brewster, Mahopac, Somers and White Plains, focusing on physical therapy and rehabilitation. 

 

Amy Chiusano Amy graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training. While attending Sacred Heart, Amy worked with the Women’s Soccer team, Track and Field, and Baseball. She also completed a semester off-site at St. Lukes. Amy has been a part of the medical teams for the Western CT Militia Football program and the Connecticut Wreckers. She is currently on the medical team for the Danbury Whalers Hockey team, as well as the Danbury Westerners Baseball program. Since 2011, Amy has been the Athletic Trainer at Bethel High School. 

 

Doug Michlovitz Doug is currently an elementary physical education teacher in the Newtown Public Schools. He has extensive athletic training experience, including being the Head Athletic Trainer for the Helena Brewers (Advanced Rookie affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers) and a volunteer assistant athletic Trainer with the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins AA affiliate). Doug has been with the Danbury Westerners since 2013. Doug received his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont (B.S. Physical Education. concentration: athletic training) and a graduate degree from Southern CT. State University (M.S. Exercise Science). Doug resides in Sandy Nhook, and is married with two boys ages 10 and 6. 

 

Matthew T. Hartsburg, DC CCSP Dr. Matt Hartsburg is a native of Danbury, CT and founded the Hartsburg Chiropractic Health Center in 2005. Dr. Matt's studies in Kinesiology at The Pennsylvania State University, Biomechanics at the University of Brighton, England, as well as his studies at Life Chiropractic College West have all prepared him to deal with a wide variety of complaints and health related issues. He has a particular interest in the connection between posture and repetitive stress injury prevention and correction. Currently, Dr. Matt acts at the Official Team Chiropractor for both the Danbury Westerners and the Danbury Rugby Football Club.
