Wes Taylor - General Manager

Wes, Janis and Curtis live in Port Coquitlam and are a baseball family through and through. Wes started coaching baseball in 2000 at Coquitlam Little League until 2010. In that time Wes Coached baseball fundamentals in the season and coached All Star post season in District 3.

In 2009 & 2010 Wes Coached CLL Junior All Star teams to back-to-back Provincial and Canadian Championships and subsequently representing Canada in Back to back Junior Little League World Series appearances in Taylor, Michigan. Prior to joining the Reds program Wes held the position of president of Coquitlam Little League.

Wes is a business partner and involved in the day to day operations with Inside Performance Baseball in North Vancouver.

“I understand that the coaches in the Reds program have to realize their role is to instruct and to teach these players to be able to play at the next level of their baseball careers while maintaining a firm understanding of the importance of academics". 

David Kington - Program Coordinator / Roving Pitching Instructor

David grew up in Coquitlam playing for Coquitlam Little League and was a four-year member of the Coquitlam Reds Organization. In 2004 David was named Redleg of the year and in 2005 received the Reds Top Pitcher award and led his team with a .393 batting average.

In 2006, David began his college career in Quincy California with the Feather River Junior College Golden Eagles. After an un-defeated regular season team record in 2007, David transferred to the University of Southern Illinois where he obtained his BA in Psychology while graduating with honors and was a dean’s list award recipient.

 In 2009, David was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 34th round and in his rookie season, while playing for the Johnson City Cardinals (rookie ball) was selected to the 2009 Appalachian League All Star team as a relief pitcher.

David began his official coaching career with the Coquitlam Reds in 2011.  He has Managed at the Bantam and Senior levels and will now take on the role as Roving Pitching Instructor

Shawn Bowman - Program Coordinator

Shawn played in Coquitlam Little League growing up and represented Coquitlam at the Junior World Series in Taylor, Mich. in 1999 and was a four-year member of the Coquitlam Reds organization. During his time with the Reds Shawn was a two-time member of Canada’s Junior National Team; in 2002 he represented Canada at the World Junior Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec and was named to the All-World team.

In 2002 Shawn was drafted by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the Major League Baseball Draft and started his professional baseball career. Over a 10-year professional career Shawn has played for the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Atlanta Braves, and Miami Marlins reaching as high as Triple A.

 In 2009, Shawn was a member of Canada’s World Baseball Classic team and the Bronze-medal-winning World Cup team where he was named to the All-World team. Shawn was a mainstay for the Men’s National Team from 2009 to 2013 and in 2011 helped Canada win a bronze medal at the World Cup and Gold Medal at the Pan-American games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

 Shawn retired from professional baseball in 2012 and after a year as the Sr Reds manager he has taken a postion with the UBC Thunderbirds as their hitting instructor. In addition, Shawn is an assistant coach on the Junior National Team as well as a coach for Team BC at Tournament 12.

Jim Chapman - Senior Reds Head Coach

Jim is a lifelong Lower Mainland resident presently residing in Langley. He attended Washington State U and Columbia Basin CC on both baseball and basketball scholarships before signing and playing professionally with the Montreal Expos and Atlanta Braves. Progressing upto the Triple A level. 
 
Coaching background includes numerous years of coaching and management at the pro A level,college including the National Baseball Institute,and Canadian National Team. Due to his well rounded knowledge of the game has been responsible to coordinate and teach various aspects including hiitting,pitching,baserunning,as well as offensive and defensive strategies. 
 
Scouting 25 yrs as a professional scout including 15 years as Los Angeles Dodgers Area Scout and National Supervisor. Also the Cleveland Indians and most recently the San Francisco Giants who provided him with 3 World Series rings. Jim has observed and believed in the talent north of the border for many yrs. And has provided his expertise and influence in many players development and attainment of their goals. 
 
He hopes his experience can help the Reds Players attain a positive outcome for their efforts and the organizations success. 

Jeff Honeysett - Senior Reds Bench Coach

Jeff is in his sixth season with the Reds organization .

He discovered his love of coaching when he started coaching hockey at BWC in 1993 . In 1999 Jeff joined Coquitlam Little League to coach for 12 seasons . He was appointed the Manager of the 12 year old All Star Team representing CCL in the Provincial Championships. Jeff was also responsible for creating a Fall Ball Program that allowed the kids (and him) to play all year round.

Jeff’s philosophy for life and sports is the same. You get the results you want with dedication, hard work and perseverance. Jeff is known for his intensity and passion for the game and this usually comes with a “colourful” coaching style.

Jason Rich - Junior Reds Head Coach

Jason grew up playing ball in the PBL as a North Delta Blue Jay.  During Jason's 1997 season (Senior) he was named to the BC Selects Team as well as the Canadian Junior National Team as a Catcher. Following high school, Jason made his way to Yavapai JR College in Arizona, for his 98/99 Seasons at which point an unfortunate shoulder injury ended his college career early.  After recovering, Jason made his way onto the Melville Millionaires, a semi pro team based out of Saskatchwan in 2002 followed by a year in 2003 with the Canadian Baseball League in Kelowna.  

Jason began coaching as a Vancouver Mounties in 2005, followed by the Junior Reds in 06 as well as a PNC and Arizona select coach.  From there Jason spent a year with he SR Whalley Cheifs in 2007 and finished his early coaching stint with North Delta in 2011. At this time, Jason decided to step away from baseball to focus on his career and his family.

Jason is extremely excited to get back into coaching with the Reds and to help develop and move players on to the next level!

 

Steve Kandborg - Junior Bench Coach

Steve grew up in Port Moody and was a four-year member of the Coquitlam Reds organization. During his time with the organization Steve was a part of two provincial championship teams and received multiple individual honours including “Redleg of the Year”, “Top Fielder”, and the “Redman” award. Steve also had the opportunity to play in several Pacific Northwest Championships, Arizona Classic Tournaments and the Perfect Game World Wood Bat Championship during his time with the Reds.

After graduation, Steve headed to college in the US on a baseball scholarship. Steve started his college career at Wenatchee Valley College (NWACC) and ended it at Iowa Lakes College (ICCAC). Steve also had the unique experience of playing in one of the top summer ball leagues in the country, the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League located in New York, and achieved a team-leading .328 batting average over the course of the season. In his final season at Iowa Lakes, Steve was named to the ICCAC All-Conference team and had a batting average of .391 in conference play.

Steve is excited to give back to the club and share his knowledge and experience. He hopes to assist all players from the organization to pursue college opportunities through various contacts he has established.

Currently Steve is attending SFU on his way to completing his bachelor of business degree.

Jared Peterson - Junior Bench Coach

Jared grew up in Port Moody and was a three-year member of the Coquitlam Reds organization. During his time with the Reds, he helped lead the team to one Provincial title and two second place finishes, one of which Jared was a team captain.

Jared is currently in his fourth year at Simon Fraser University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Applied Physics with a minor in Nuclear Science. Jared has maintained a B average during his first three years at University.

In 2011 Jared began coaching in the Coquitlam Reds organization. In the past three years Jared has helped the team to two final 4 finishes. Jared is currently the assistant coach on the Redlegs looking to assist in instruction of outfielders in the upcoming season

Brent Foreman - Bantam Head Coach

Brent grew up in Coquitlam and was a four-year member of the Coquitlam Reds organization. During his time with the Redlegs, he helped lead the team to a Provincial title. In his three years as the catcher for the Reds, Brent was selected as a PBL All-Conference Catcher in 2010 as well as collecting two defensive player or the year awards and the “Redman” award within the organization. Brent also represented BC in various tournaments and showcases including the BC Summer Games, PNC Tournament, and the Arizona Fall Showcase.

 

Brent is currently in his fourth year at Capilano University completing his bachelor's degree in Business Marketing.

 

In 2015 Brent began his coaching career with Burnaby Minor PeeWee AAA. He is currently the Manager of the Reds Prep Team looking to assist in the instruction of the hitters and catchers this upcoming season.

 

Matt Trimble - Bantam Bench Coach

Matt grew up in Coquitlam and was a four year member of the Reds organization. A 7 time Reds award winner, Matt led the pitching staff each of his last two years in ERA, strikeouts, and wins en route to back to back top pitcher and MVP awards.

He was a part of the 2009 and 2010 gold medal winning Select Teams at the Canada Cup. Matt was also a member of the 2011 Canadian Junior National Team.

In 2011, Matt started his college career at UBC. After a year of playing and then red shirting his Sophomore year due to injury, Matt transferred to Douglas College where he was apart of the best season in school history and was named a First Team All Conference player.

Matt started his coaching career last year with the Burnaby Pee Wee AAA team, winning a silver medal in the Western Canadian Championships.

Currently, Matt works as a salesman at EMCO Plumbing and Heating Supply.

Mark Trimble - Bantam Bench Coach

Mark grew up in Coquitlam, and played in the Reds organization from 2010-2013. In 2011 Mark was named one of the Redlegs top prospects and earned himself an invitation to the Mizuno Junior Elite Baseball Camp. Mark then went on to play two seasons for the Senior Reds, and in 2013 was recognized as the Most Improved Red. 

Prior to his Reds career Mark played for Coquitlam Little League, where he helped win a national championship and represented Canada in the 2009 Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Michigan. 

Mark has one season of coaching under his belt thus far. He helped coach the Burnaby Braves Peewee AAA team to a BC Provincial final, as well as a Western Canada final. 

Mark is currently working as an apprentice plumber and is going into his 3rd year.

Rene Tosoni - Guest Coach

Rene played BC Minor baseball in Port Coquitlam, B.C. and in the PBL with the Coquitlam Reds. In 2004 Rene was a member of the Junior National Team and was named team MVP. Following his high school career he went on to play college baseball at Chipola JC in Florida and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 36th round of the 2005 MLB draft.

In 2009 Rene was a participant in the MLB Futures Game where he was named the games MVP. Rene made his major league debut in 2011 with the Minnesota Twins and recently completed his 9th professional season in the Milwaukee Brewers system.

Jeremy Trach - Program Strenth and Conditioning Coach

Jeremy is a native of Coquitlam, British Columbia and a 2006 graduate of the Coquitlam Reds program. He attended University in Kansas and Iowa where he received his degree and played four years of competitive college baseball. In 2011, he was named the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Waldorf College, Iowa. In 2013, Jeremy attained his Masters in Exercise and Sports Science in Human Performance at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he worked as the Sports Performance Graduate Assistant Strength Coach. Jeremy is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He holds his Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certification through USA Weightlifting and is certified with the Functional Movement Screen.

Jeremy has over 6 years of experience working with youth, high school, college, and professional baseball players. He currently works as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Jeremy spent the 2013 and 2014 season as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Vancouver Canadians. In 2014 he was named the North West League Strength Coach of the Year. Jeremy will spend the 2015 season as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Advanced-A level Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League.

Peter Francais - Program Phsyiotherapist

Peter is from Maple Ridge, BC and played in the PBL for the North Shore Twins (2003). After the PBL, Peter played for the Douglas College Royals (NWAACC).

After his playing days, Peter completed a Diploma in Sports Science, Bachelor of Kinesiology (UFV) and most recently a Masters of Physical Therapy (UBC). He is currently practicing at both West 4th Physiotherapy and Main Street Physiotherapy. His interests lie in special adaptations occurring within the throwing athlete and will serve as the Reds team physiotherapist.
