Canada Winter Games
The Canada Winter Games are held every four years with players competing for their home province. 2011 will mark the first year that men’s hockey will be for under 16 aged players after previously being under 17 aged players. Sidney Crosby, Paul Kariya, Bob Gainey and Steven Stamkos have all participated at the Canada Winter Games.
The 2019 Canada Winter Games will be held February 15 - March 3 in Red Deer, Alberta.
Esso Cup | National Women’s Championship
The Esso Cup is Canada’s National Female Midget Championship. Five regional champions from across Canada will compete with the host team for the Esso Cup, and the right to be called national champions. The growth of the women’s game in Canada continues as a national champion is crowned for women’s minor hockey.
The 2019 Esso Cup is being hosted in Sudbury.
RBC Cup | National Junior A Championship
The RBC Cup is Canada’s National Championship for the Canadian Junior Hockey League. Since 1971, teams from across Canada have fought for this Championship. This season, more than 140 teams from 10 leagues will lay for the right to take to the ice at the 2014 RBC Cup.
The 2019 RBC Cup is being hosted by Brooks, Alberta.
TELUS Cup | National Midget Hockey Championship
The TELUS Cup, formerly the Air Canada Cup and Wrigley Cup, is Canada’s National Midget AAA Championships. Dany Heatley, Simon Gagne and Sidney Crosby are just a few of the players who have had international success after playing for the National Midget Championship. This year, for the 32nd time, a new crop of future stars will fight for the right to be called national champions.
The 2019 TELUS Cup will be held in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
World Under-17 Hockey Challenge
The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge is an international tournament held annually in Canada. It is the first major international competition for male hockey players under the age of 17. With three teams and 66 players representing Canada, the future of Canadian hockey is on display at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The first step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence, the under-17 level has produced hundreds of NHL draft picks.
The 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will be held in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Allan Cup | National Senior Amateur Men’s Championship
The Allan Cup is Canada’s National Senior Amateur Men’s Championships and one of the oldest national championships in the country. Canada’s best Senior AAA teams compete every year for the Allan Cup. In its 106 years of existence, teams from every provinces, as well as the Yukon and the United States, have claimed the Allan Cup.
The 2017 Allan Cup was hosted in Bouctouche, New Brunswick.
World Junior A Challenge
The World Junior A Challenge is an annual under-20 international tournament to expose Junior A level players. Created to showcase the talent in Canada’s 10 Junior A leagues, the World Junior A Challenge debuted in Yorkton and Humboldt, SK in 2006. Canada West has appeared in all three gold medal games, winning twice, while Canada East is a two-time silver medalist.
The 2017 World Junior A was held in Truro, N.S.
National Women’s U18 Championship
Before they hit the ice for Canada’s National Women’s Under-22 Team or National Women’s Team, the future of women’s hockey debuts on the national stage at the National Women’s Under-18 Championship, fighting for a gold medal and national bragging rights.
The 2017 National Women’s U18 Championship was held in Quebec City, Quebec.
