Two Teams/One Goal: “Three-Peat!”

Hoffman Estates Red Hawks

Anybody who’s ever played, coached or rooted for a Pop Warner championship contender knows that the road to a national title is never, ever paved with gold. In fact, 99.9 % of the time it’s a road replete with bumps, lumps, obstacles, and enough uncertainty to test the mettle of even the most talented teams.

So when, and if, your team successfully meets the challenges of the road to claim an ever-elusive Pop Warner National Championship, you’ll have plenty to celebrate.

Then, what if…yes, “what if ?” the very next season you start afresh along the same rough road , with a brand new set of challenges ,  and end up with a “repeat” Pop Warner National Championship!? Man, that is so awesome! A rare achievement? You bet. And, it’s an achievement that is so well-deserved.

But, the next year…? Wait, what? Could it really happen, again?  It not only could, it well may. See, this year, 2016, at the 60th annual Pop Warner Super Bowl, not one, but two teams are chasing history.

The DII Hoffman Estates Red Hawks Jr. Varsity from Chicagoland and the D I Northwest Raiders Varsity from Liberty, each of them champs in their divisions in 2014 and 2015, now have destiny dead in their sites.

Can either, or both, talented squads not only dream the impossible dream, but actually make it happen, the rarest of the rare…the “3-Peat” Pop Warner National Championship?

Watch all this week while we follow the fortunes of both the Red Hawks and the Raiders as they head down the homestretch in the ever-demanding road to glory!

We’ll be featuring both text and video perspectives on BOTH great teams to give you an inside perspective on what it takes to win three in a row…here at the fabulous ESPN Wide World of Sports!

2016 Mitey Mites Lead The Charge!

by Bob Field, Jr.- Saturday, December 3, 2016

Hi everybody. Welcome to another edition of “Field Notes” as I cover the Pop Warner Super Bowl Week from a fan’s point of view.  We’re calling this special week  “Sensational 60/ Terrific 20!“  Why? Well, talk about mileposts!

2016 marks the 60th year of Pop Warner Super Bowl competition, plus the 20th annual trip to Disney World and the amazing ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for all the football, cheer and dance championship excitement.

This year we are featuring teams and squads from all over the U.S. as well as Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and Finland! Wow!

And to start it all off, there’s nothing quite like today’s Mitey Mite Bowl.  Featuring teams ranging from Akron, Ohio to San Antonio, Texas, this full day of jamboree format football gives spirited 7-9 year old Pop Warner players, their coaches and fans a first taste of the “Big Show” here at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Talk about a super experience, with an emphasis on max fun and learning for all, there’s nothing like Mitey Mite division football to get folks fired up for the rewards of participation in Pop Warner Little Scholars.

But, rather then me extolling the great lessons learned by youngsters playing Pop Warner tackle football on this level, let’s hear from a father and son who can express it all far better than I.

Hear Jason and son Zander from the San Antonio Saints talking about the experience.

Talk about super advocates of Pop Warner. They nailed it!

And, it’s just the start of a fabulous week as “Sensational 60/Terrific 20!” rolls on.
