What do I need to play House League baseball?
How long does the season run?
The Barrie Minor Baseball season runs from mid May until the last week of August. We also hold a "Championship Day" on the first Saturday after Labour Day in September.
What does the registration fee cover?
The base registration fee covers the following:
- Field costs paid to the City of Barrie
- Lighting costs paid to the City of Barrie
- Uniforms, including a jersey, pants and hat (Blastball includes t-shirt and hat)
- Umpire fees (if applicable)
- Equipment including baseballs, bats, bases and catchers gear
- Team and individual pictures
- End of year awards
- Player and coach insurance
Where are the games played?
House league games are played at a variety of parks throughout Barrie including the Barrie Sports Complex in Midhurst. They include East Bayfield Park, Painswick Field, Marsellus Park and Bear Creek Park.
What time do House League games begin?
Games for Blastball, Jr TBall, TBall, Coach Pitch, Rookie Ball, Mosquito and PeeWee begin at 6:30pm. Bantam and Midget games vary based on the South Simcoe Baseball League scheduling.
How do I apply to be a coach for a House League team?
At the time of your initial registration, you will be asked to be a voluteer. At that time, you will need to indicate that you are interested in being a coach. The convenor of the division you have chosen will be in contact to discuss filling out a Coaches Form was well as getting a valid Criminal Record Check completed which includes a Vulnerable Sector Screening. All information will be submitted to the House League Coaches Committee for approval.
I cannot commit full time but still want to volunteer...how can I help?
We understand everyone has different availabilities surrounding their volunteering as a coach. If you are unable to be the head coach due to potential scheduling conflicts, we would still welcome your help as an assistant coach. Please indicate your interest on the registration form at the time of registration.
When do Rep/Select teams do tryouts?
Rep and Select teams generally do tryouts in mid September where a team is chosen at that time. The team then takes part in additional winter workouts through the months of January to April where the season will start May 1st. There is an additional cost to play on these teams above the base registration.
