How to Shoot

What will you learn?

Congratulations on finishing the How to Skate series! Get ready to ignite your shot with Jeremy Rupke. In this 4 part series Jeremy will go through: the secrets behind getting power and accuracy in your shot, the wrist shot, the snap shot and the slap shot. Again these videos are set up in sequential order but feel free to roam around!

Before You Start

Jeremy goes through the mechanics of shooting a puck. Topics include: weight transfer, flexing the stick and moving the puck back to generate power. Each of these topics are applicable to any shot and serve as reminders for advanced players.

The Wrist Shot

The wrist shot is where you need to start before advancing onto other shots. In the first video, Jeremy gives a comprehensive break down of the wrist shot. The second video is intended to build upon the first video by providing tips for accuracy.

The Snap Shot

Feel like the wrist shot is a little too slow for your game? The snap shot allows you to get a quick shot off without sacrificing accuracy. Learn about wrist movements, getting that snap and piecing together what you know into the full snap shot.

The Slap Shot

With the proper technique, the slap shot is no doubt the hardest shot in hockey. Matt Jones from WinnPro Hockey takes you through 5 simple steps to master the slap shot. For more advanced players check out the moving slap shot video.
