INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WITH TORRINGTON TITANS 

WANT TO WORK IN BASEBALL?  

 

The Torrington Titans are a summer, wood-bat, collegiate baseball team. The Titans play in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The Titans strive to provide fans, sponsors, and partners with the very best in competitive baseball and affordable entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere. The team is comprised of amateur, college baseball players from across New England and the country, displaying their talents in front of major league scouts.

Potential to earn college credit

Housing will not be provided

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

•Desire to pursue a career in the sport industry.

•The position requires 40-plus hours per week, including weekends. Days off on game days are only available under extenuating circumstances. This position must be your first priority.

•Candidates MUST be available for the entire duration of the internship.

•Computer literate, with Adobe skills being an added bonus.

•Strong communication skills (written & verbal).

•Ability to work as part of a team.

•Strong customer service skills.

•Ability to multi-task with little supervision.

 

The following internship positions are available:

FULL-TIME SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

MEDIA/STATISTICS (1) - This position will include keeping game and player statistics through our PointStreak software (we will train you on the software). This position will be responsible for doing the scoreboard during the game as well. The position will also be required to write game recaps for our media partners after each home game. Some other duties could include: creating content for the Titans website, social media operations and coordination, radio interviews, writing player stories and bios, assist in managing our radio marketing, communication with our media partners, etc.

MARKETING/TICKET SALES (1) – This position will include selling group tickets, doing marketing work for the team as well as some community relations efforts. This includes appearing at and organizing team events in the community, assist in managing our radio marketing as well as assisting with group nights and special events during game nights. Forming relationships with our many sponsors will also be a key aspect on this position.

VIDEO OPERATIONS (2) – These two positions will be solely responsible for creating, editing and producing our weekly Titans public television broadcast, as well as creating videos and highlight packages for our website and social media outlets.

These full-time interns should expect to work 40+ hours/week in the office and at the stadium. Many of these positions will be focused in their own area, but all positions will be required to help in any other assigned tasks. 

GAME DAY OPERATIONS INTERNSHIPS

Game day interns will assist the full-time staff of the Titans in running all of their game day operations. This requires evening and weekend hours during the summer season. Game day interns will be expected to arrive approximately two hours before first pitch (schedule available on our website).

CONCESSION/MERCHANDISE (4) – Responsible for selling out-of-stand concessions and merchandise during game play as well as interacting with customers and fans.

TICKET/GATE (2) – Responsible for greeting attendees and selling/taking tickets at each Titans game as well as interacting with customers and fans.

PUBLIC ADDRESS/MUSIC (1) – Announce players and advertisements during game play over the public address system. Also responsible for playing each athlete’s walk-up music and between-inning sounds/music.

ON-FIELD PROMOTIONS ASSISTANT (1) – Responsible for running between-inning games and contests as well as interacting with fans and helping to create an exciting atmosphere.

MASCOT (1) – Make public appearances as the Titans mascot.

OPERATIONS ASSISTANT/RUNNER (1) – Assist in all areas of on-site preparations.

SPORTS MEDICINE (1) – Will be responsible for being the primary medical contact for the Titans during their 28 home games. 

 

All interns, regardless of what specific area they work in, will receive a well-rounded look at the organization. All interns will be expected to participate on an intern committee, assist in ticket sales, tarp pulls, grass roots and out-of-office marketing, and much more. Interns are treated as an extension of the full-time managerial staff.
