History of Fuessenich Park

Fuessenich Park

In 1918 Frederick Fuessenich donated eight acres of land to the City of Torrington as a place of amusement and recreation for the men, women and children of Torrington.  Since that time the Park has been a treasure for generations of City residents as a place for baseball, football and soccer games, activity camps, ice skating, concerts and carnivals.  The Park is a gem in downtown Torrington and is without question one of the best ballparks in the State of Connecticut.  In 1996, thanks to many volunteers and generous donors, the Park received a much needed face lift.  This year the Fuessenich Park Partnership Commission (FPPC) was reestablished with the goals of the continued preservation and development of the Park and the promotion of Park activities.  FPPC has identified a number of projects that it hopes to fund including replacement of the bleachers and installation of a new irrigation system.  FPPC hopes that this Facebook group will assist in these goals.  It will also be a place where members can share memories of the Park and get information on upcoming events.  Please support the Torrington Titans this summer as exciting collegiate baseball returns to the Park.

FPPC needs the help of our residents in preserving this jewel in our Downtown.  To help please send your generous donation payable to "FPPC" to the FPPC, c/o Mayor's office, 140 Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790. Thanks!
