Beantown Classic

FAQ

Q: Are there tryouts for the Beantown Spring Classic?

A: No there are not, the Beantown Spring Classic is an invite only event.

Q: What is the selection process for the Beantown Spring Classic?

A:The scouting staff for the Beantown Classic watches games (USPHL, EHL, Midgets, Prep/HS) over a period from Labor day thru the 3rd weekend in December (prep tournament weekend).

After the prep tournament weekend a list of top performers is compiled. This list has over 240 names for the Draft Division and 130 names for the Pre-Draft Division.

The staff then meets after the holidays and selects 50% of the players (approximately 30 of 72 total) and sends invitations. The first group of players selected are those players who have made D-1 college commitments or players that the NHL has serious interest in drafting.

Players who are still on the list will be monitored over the month of January. Based on performance and past accomplishments the remaining players will be selected.

The remaining player selection will be made by the fourth week of February.

Once the players have been selected the staff will continue to monitor the rest of the list as injuries and spring sport conflicts will open up additional spots for invitation.

If you have a D-1 scholarship commitment, and scholarship offer from a D-1 college or you are listed on NHL central scouting mid-term report and you have not received and invite please contact asap. Sometimes the invite gets lost in cyberspace or the mail.
