North American Hockey Classic

COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 GUDELINES

The North American Hockey Classic want to ensure the safety of our players, coaches, officials, staff and spectators. Below you will find an outline of the guidelines that The Summer Heat Tournament will follow and encourage at the tournament and around all facilities they’re participating in.

These guidelines have been created in conjunction with Manitoba Public Health to ensure that our event provides you with the safest environment possible for all participants.

All facilities in Manitoba where the tournament activities are taking place are required to comply with current health and safety standards as prescribed by the Provincial government as it relates to COVID-19. Specifically, arenas must strictly adhere to the regulations set out in the Manitoba Restoring Safe Services plan, under Team Sports and other Recreational Activities.

All staff members, players, parents, guardians and other spectators must use the Province of Manitoba Online Screening Tool before coming to any facility in Manitoba where MJI-sanctioned activities are to take place. Any staff, players, coaches, officials or parents who are feeling ill and showing COVID-19 like symptoms must stay home and not enter any facilities.

Parents will also NOT be allowed in dressing rooms, if your child is in need of assistance with gear please dress them prior to entering the facility OR a coach can help with equipment and skates.

At this time, participants are asked to limit the number of spectators coming to the facility for their ice time. There will be (2) Spectator passes given out to each player during registration. You will not be allowed in without a spectators pass. Children under the age of 12 do not require a pass to come in. Spectators will not be allowed into the facilities until (5) mins prior to start time, and must exit the building (10) minutes post game ending.

It will be MANDATORY that all guests who are not participating wear a mask while inside ALL facilities. This includes spectators, coaching staff and arena workers.

The province requires that facilities implement measures to ensure members of the public at the facility are sensibly able to maintain a distance of at least two meters from other members of the public, excluding participants who are playing. Distancing markers should be located throughout facilities.

We would first like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their patience. We used this time to monitor the COVID-19 situation and come up with a plan that allows the kids to play hockey, while also doing our best not to impose on other summer activities. This hockey community has done nothing but continue to impress us. Whether it has been the kind emails that we have received or just the willingness to stick with us and roll with the punches.

After much consideration we have decided to partially adjust the schedule, which will be as follows:

  • NAHC Male Gold + Silver – July 16-19
  • NAHC Summer Heat – August 28-30 (Gold and Silver)

Our team has been working hard on this schedule, securing ice and officials and working closely with our hotel partners to ensure hotel availability and a simplified process to transfer bookings for our out of town teams.
