aizaryk@bridgtonacademy.org

Aaron Izaryk has served as the General Manager for the Sanford Mainers since 2016. Formerly the Mainers’ head coach, he amassed 150 wins over seven seasons, securing playoff berths each year, including an appearance in the 2014 NECBL Championship Series. At the helm, Izaryk—a Sanford Mainers and UMaine alum—sent 38 league all-stars to the NECBL Summer Classic and was the recipient of the 2015 Joel Cooney Manager of the Year Award.

Izaryk has coached more than 50 players who have been selected in the Major League Draft. Former Mainers Joey Wendel, Michael Roth, Adam Duvall, and James Bourque—all of whom played under Izaryk—have gone on to make their Major League debuts.

He is currently the Athletic Director for the Bridgton Academy athletics department, as well as the head coach of the Wolverines baseball program. Prior to Bridgton, Izaryk served as the pitching coach and catching instructor for the University of Maine, spending five years with the Black Bears. In the summer of 2006, he was an assistant coach for the Keene Swamp Bats of the NECBL, and in 2007, he served as an assistant coach with the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod League.

As a player, Izaryk appeared in 197 career games for UMaine and batted .318, with 207 hits, 134 runs scored, and 123 RBIs. In 2005, he earned America East First Team honors for the third time in his career. He was also named to the America East All-Tournament Team and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Second Team. As a freshman in 2002, Izaryk was named a Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He was also recognized as a Second Team Academic All-American, becoming the first Maine baseball player to receive such an honor.

John Webb — Asst. General Manager

john@webblawmaine.com

John is the team’s Assistant General Manager. Webb was appointed General Manager in 2010 after spending four years as an assistant under Sanford's previous GM, Neil Olson. After serving as the team's GM for six years, Webb returned to the assistant position following the appointment of Aaron Izaryk as General Manager in 2015.

Webb was born and raised in Sanford, attended Maine Maritime Academy and Vermont Law School, and is currently an attorney at his own firm, Webb Law Firm. Upon joining the Board of Directors, then-Chairman Joseph Vitko assigned him to Baseball Operations, where he began traveling with Mr. Olson throughout New England to represent the Mainers at monthly league meetings and other events. Webb's responsibilities grew from simply taking notes to fully representing the team during league meetings and throughout the regular season.

Webb feels that the City of Sanford gave him a strong foundation as a young man and hopes that his volunteer service to the city will help repay that debt.
