In 2016, the Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League joined the other seven Junior C leagues in the Ontario Hockey Association to create the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) and was renamed the Bloomfield Division. The Bloomfield Division is part of the South Conference along with the Doherty Division.
The Bloomfield Division was named after Tony Bloomfield and although he never played the game of hockey, Francis Gerald “Tony,” dedicated 50 years of his life to administering both minor and junior hockey in Ontario.
The Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League (NDJCHL) was formed in 1974 when the Niagara-area teams separated from the Central Junior C Hockey League. The Central League eventually became the Western Ontario Junior C Hockey League and is now the Pollock Division in the PJHL’s North Conference.
In the summer of 2013 the western teams in the NDJCHL joined with the eastern teams of the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League to form the Midwestern Junior C Hockey League (MWJCHL) and is now the Doherty Division in the PJHL’s South Conference. The eastern NDJCHL teams remained in the Niagara & District League and is now the Bloomfield Division in the PJHL’s South Conference.
