Mike was born in Indiana and raised in Texas, moving to Alaska with his military family for a year.  He returned to Texas and attended JC in San Antonio, playing baseball there as a pitcher.  He was invited to spring training with the Kansas City Royals, but he received a 'bubble-busting' offer from the military and they wanted him more! His service in the military included assignments in Turkey, Ethiopia and Pakistan, to name a few.  Following his discharge from the army in 1972, he chased his baseball dreams in Japan.  Returning to Anchorage in 1972 he began a career with Sealand/Horizon Lines at the Port of Anchorage, where he worked with Lefty Van Brunt and Lou Sinnett.  He retired in 2011, and after serving on the Glacier Pilots' Board of Directors, and as an officer, he moved into the office as Director of Sales and Promotions, and in the fall of 2014 became General Manager.  An avid fisherman and photographer, Mike enjoys the outdoors and spending time with is wife Laurel and daughters Marissa and Katie.
