Gongshow CJHL 3 Stars of the Month for February 2015
CALGARY, Alberta (March 10, 2015) – The Gongshow CJHL 3 Stars for the month of February 2015 are Boris Katchouk (Soo Thunderbirds, NOJHL), Dane Gibson (Victoria Grizzlies, BCHL) and Felix Chamberland (Pembroke Lumber Kings, CCHL).
1st STAR – BORIS KATCHOUK, F, Soo Thuderbirds, NOJHL (9 GP, 10 G, 13 A, 23 PTS, 2.55 PPG)
In nine games last month, the 16-year-old rookie amassed 23 points helping Sault Ste. Marie go 8-1 in the contests he skated in. Katchouk, who hails from Vancouver, B.C., tallied 10 times and set-up 13 others for the Thunderbirds in that span. He has also registered at least one point in each of the past nine NOJHL match-ups he has suited up for. Overall Katchouk has totalled 45 points for the T-Birds in 29 outings on 18 goals and 27 assists. He currently tops the club in point-per-game average at 1.55. A second round pick, 33rd overall, of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, Katchouk has also seen action in nine OHL games this season picking up two assists along the way. He was also named the NOJHL's Gongshow Gear player of the month for February.
2nd STAR – DANE GIBSON, F, Victoria Grizzlies, BCHL (11 GP, 10 G, 13 A, 23 PTS, 2.10 PPG)
Gibson racked up 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in 11 games as the Grizzlies won eight of their final 11 games. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward was named a game star on seven occasions and also added two game-winning goals. Gibson had multiple points in eight games, highlighted by a five-assist game on Feb. 13. His play helped Victoria secure home-ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs. Dane Gibson (Sidney, B.C.) is in his third BCHL season and is committed to the University of Maine for the 2015-16 season.
3rd STAR – FELIX CHAMBERLAND, F, Pembroke Lumber Kings, CCHL (10 GP, 13 G, 7 A, 20 PTS, 2.00 PPG)
Felix Chamberland of the Pembroke Lumber King was outstanding helping his team to an impressive 9-1 record and securing 3rd in the overall standings. The Lumber Kings forward accumulated 20 (13G, 7A) points in those 10 games while earning five game stars for his performance. The Canisius University commit is currently 1st in league scoring with 95 (46G, 49A) points in 59 games.
