Copperheads Joshua Steidl take first GLSCL Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 1

JOSHUA STEIDL - SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS - JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY 

 

Steidl belted three home runs and drove in five RBIs while hitting for a .412 batting average. He went 7-for-17 at the plate with two doubles, three runs scored and collected 18 total bases. His 1.059 slugging percentage is at the top of the GLSCL leader board.

 

He hit two home runs in a game against the Cincinnati Steam on June 10 in a game that was played at McBride Stadium in Richmond, Indiana. Steidl also hit a home run on opening day with the Copperheads hosting the Grand Lake Mariners.

 

Steidl completed his freshman season in the spring playing for the Dolphins of Jacksonville University. He earned 37 at bats as a catcher and first basemen. He hit for a .297 batting average with one home run and four RBIs.

ELI HOPKINS - ROYAL OAK LEPRECHAUNS - COKER UNIVERSITY

Hopkins hit for a .500 batting average (9-for-18), with 5 RBIs, 2 doubles and 4 runs scored. He leads the league with nine hits.

 

 

LUKE HOUIN - CINCINNATI STEAM - ST. LEO UNIVERSITY 

Houin hit for a .500 batting average (7-for-14) with 6 RBIs, 3 doubles and 6 runs scored.

 

 

CHASE WHISNER - LICKING COUNTY SETTLERS - WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY 

Hit for a .429 batting average (6-for-14) with 5 RBIs, 2 triples and 7 runs scored. Leads the GLSCL in triples and is second in runs scored.

 

 

ABOUT THE GREAT LAKES SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE 

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 13 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
