Steam's Ty Roder wins first GLSCL Pitcher of the Week award

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 1

TY RODER - CINCINNATI STEAM - WRIGHT STATE

Roder pitched four hitless, scoreless innings with five strikeouts allowing just two base runners. The performance came in the Steam’s opening game of the season on June 9 against the Xenia Scouts. Roder earned the victory in the Steam’s 9-1 win.

 

Roder, who redshirted at Wright State this spring, is a native of Waterville, Ohio and played at Wayne High School. The Raiders who the Horizon League regular season and conference tournament advancing to the Blacksburg Regional of the NCAA tournament.

 

 

HONORABLE MENTION - Pitcher of the Week

 

SEAN PECK - SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS - FINGER LAKES CC 

Earned a four-inning save striking out seven batters while giving up just one run, two hits and one walk on the road against the Hamilton Joes.

 

 

LOGAN BRAGG - LICKING COUNTY SETTLERS - UNIVERSITY of FINDLAY 

Threw five shutout innings in relief earning the win in Licking County’s win over the Xenia Scouts on June 10. Bragg gave up just one hit and zero walks for the Settlers.

 

 

GARRETT NAVARRA - JET BOX - CENTRAL MICHIGAN

Threw five shutout innings giving up just five hits while striking out five batters and not allowing a walk in his first start of the season against the Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers. Helped himself at the plate going 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate in that game.

 

 

ABOUT THE GREAT LAKES SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE 

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 13 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
