Locos Jake Hutchins wins GLSCL Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3

(Time period June 18 through June 25)

 

JAKE HUTCHINS - LIMA LOCOS - NIAGARA UNIVERISTY

Jake Hutchins went 10-for-23 for a .435 batting average over the course of the week. Hutchins hit a grand slam home run, three doubles while scoring seven runs and driving in 10 RBI’s.

 

Hutchins is a Lima, Ohio native playing his high school ball at nearby Shawnee High School. He just recently announced his commitment to play next season at Niagara University. Hutchins played this past spring at Lincoln Trail College after a season at Wittenberg University.

 

The second-year Locos player hit a grand slam homer in a 15-11 slugfest over the Jet Box Baseball Club on June 19. Hutchins was the first GLSCL player to drive in six RBI’s in a game this season.

 

 

HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week

 

REECE LONGSTAFF - MICHIGAN MONARCHS - ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE

Longstaff hit for a .545 batting average going 12-for-22 for the week. He hit three doubles, one triple, one home run and three RBI’s for the Monarchs.

 

GRANT MILLER - HAMILTON JOES - BALL STATE UNIVERSITY 

Miller went 11-for-26 with a .423 batting over the course the week with a triple while scoring four runs and driving in 8 RBI’s. The Joes were 5-1 in games that Miller played in during the week.

 

LUKE VONDERHAAR - GRAND LAKE MARINERS - BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE

Vonderhaar was 6-for-15 hitting .400 for the week with three home runs an 6 RBI’s. He had two multiple-hit games of the course of the week.

 

 

ABOUT THE GREAT LAKES SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE 

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 13 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
