Licking County's Swonger wins Player of the Week
GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 5
(Time period July 3 through July 9)
LOGAN SWONGER - LICKING COUNTY SETTLERS - TIFFIN UNIVERSITY
Logan Swonger hit for a .450 batting average going 9-for-20 at the plate. Swonger drove in nine RBIs hitting one home run along with two doubles and a triple.
Swonger, who is a two-way player for the Settlers, also pitched two and 2/3 innings of relief earning a victory and a save. Swonger struck out four batters giving up just two hits and one unearned run.
For the season, Swonger is hitting .391 in 46 at bats with 13 RBIs. He also leads the team and is tied for the GLSCL lead with four saves. He was struck out 16 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.
Swonger, who is from nearby Newark, Ohio, plays collegiately at Tiffin University. The Dragons went 29-19 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference this past spring.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
CADE PARKER - RICHMOND JAZZ - GULF COAST STATE COLLEGE
Cade Parker went 8-for-19 for a .421 batting average over the course of the week. Parker smacked five extra base hits including two doubles, two triples, one home run and nine RBIs. Parker drove in six RBIs on July 9 against the Licking County Settlers and scored nine runs over the course of the week. Parker just narrowly missed out on winning this award in back-to-back weeks.
CAMDEN COLMAN - MICHIGAN MONARCHS - FRONTIER CC
Camden Colman batted .417 over the course of the week going 10-for-24 at the plate. Colman drove in a total of eight RBIs including five in a 15-0 win on July 3 over the Jet Box Baseball Club. The Monarchs were 5-1 in the six games Colman played in during the week.
KYLE RATLIFF - SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS - SIU-EDWARDSVILLE
Kyle Ratliff hit for a .368 batting average going 7-for-19 at the plate with one home run and nine RBIs. Ratliff is currently in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak. HIs six home runs on the season is tied for the most in he GLSCL.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 13 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
