Lima's Carter Doorn win Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 6
(Time period July 10 through July 16)
CARTER DOORN - LIMA LOCOS - PURDUE UNIVERSITY
Carter Doorn pitched six innings for the Locos in an 8-2 victory on July 15 over the Grand Lake Mariners. Doorn no-hit the Mariners through the first five and 1/3 innings.
He struck out 11 Grand Lake batters while only allowing three walks and one run on two hits improving his record to 2-1 on the season. His 11 strikeouts ties a league high for most punch outs in a game this season.
Doorn leads the GLSCL with an 0.77 ERA and is tied with Richmond’s Matt Dickey for the most strikeouts with 43 on the season.
The Schererville, Indiana native just finished his freshman season at Purdue University. He pitched a perfect inning in the GLSCL All-Star game striking out two of the three batters that he faced.

NICK CUNNINGHAM - LICKING COUNTY SETTLERS - WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY
Nick Cunningham pitched six shutout innings giving up just one hit and one walk in the Settlers 3-1 win over the Southern Ohio Copperheads on July 13. Cunningham struck eight batters while lowering his ERA to 1.66 in the season.
ZACH WEBER - CINCINNATI STEAM - OHIO UNIVERSITY
Zach Weber tossed seven scoreless innings for the Steam in a 7-5 win over the Xenia Scouts on July 11. He struck out five batters while only giving up two hits and not allowing a walk. The Lebanon, Ohio native improved his record to 3-1 on the season.
NICHOLAS “CODY” WILLIAMS - SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS - SNEAD STATE CC
Cody Williams earned the victory in the Copperheads 11-6 win over the Licking County Settlers on July 16. Williams struck out five batters giving up one unearned run and three hits. He also pitched one inning of perfect relief striking out the side against the Settlers on July 13.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 13 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
