Copperheads Kyle Ratliff take final GLSCL Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 7
(Time period July 16 through July 24)
KYLE RATLIFF - SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS - SIU-EDWARDSVILLE
Kyle Ratliff hit for a .454 batting average going 10-for-22 at the plate with four home runs and eight RBIs. Ratliff had three multi-hit games during the week with three hits against the Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers on July 18.
Ratliff lead the league with 11 home runs breaking the Copperheads single season home run record. He was also second in the GLSCL with 34 RBIs and tied for sixth with a .328 batting average.
Ratliff is committed to play next season at SIU Edwardsville after a successful two-season career at Lake Michigan College. He hit 10 home runs in the spring with 38 RBIs for the Red Hawks. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native hit for a .391 batting average with 41 RBIs during his freshman season in 2021.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
D.J. JACKSON - LIMA LOCOS - JACKSONVILLE STATE
D.J. Jackson went 11-for-21 for a .524 batting average over the course of the week. Jackson had a double, a home run and five RBI’s. He had four multi-hit games including three hits on two different occasions. Jackson scored six runs and his on base percentage with at a .600 clip.
SAM BUSCH - MICHIGAN MONARCHS - MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
Sam Busch went 7-for-15 hitting .467 during the week with two doubles and three runs scored. Busch went a perfect 3-for-3 reaching base in all four of his plate appearances on July 20 against the Grand Lake Mariners.
MAX FRIES - CINCINNATI STEAM - EARLHAM COLLEGE
Max Fries hit for a .389 batting averaging for the week including a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored on July 22 against the Xenia Scouts. Fries had three doubles and three RBIs for the week with a .522 on base percentage.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 13 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
