Copperheads Alex Ungar earns first GLSCL Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - June 10, 2024
Alex Ungar - Southern Ohio Copperheads - Sacred Heart University
Alex Ungar powered his way to the first GLSCL Player of the Week award for the 2024 season. In five games played this past week, Ungar leads the GLSCL with three home runs, seven RBIs and an .889 slugging percentage.
Ungar, who hit for a .389 batting average (7-for-18), haČ™ reached base in all five games that he has appeared in for the Copperheads. He has three multi-hit games helping Southern Ohio to a 3-3 record so far this season.
The Ronkonkoma, New York native just completed his junior season for Sacred Heart University. Ungar hit .314 in the spring, his first season for Sacred Heart, with 14 doubles and five triples. He helped lead the Pioneers to its first ever Northeast Conference regular season title.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
Jake McNamara - Xenia Scouts - Palm Beach Atlantic University
Jake McNamara had a great week as the Scouts leadoff hitter this past week. The shortstop from Marne, Michigan reached base 14 times (seven hits and seven walks) in 24 plate appearances. McNamara hit at a .412 clip (7-for-17) with a .583 on-base percentage.
Aiden Booth - Grand Lake Mariners - University of Findlay
Aiden Booth hit .389 (7-for-18) for the week, with two doubles, one triple, four runs and and three RBIs. Booth was the first GLSCL player to record a four-hit game when he did so on June 8 against the Southern Ohio Copperheads.
Zach Warren - Muskegon Clippers - Grand Valley State
Zach Warren was only able to appear in three games but maximized his limited opportunities. Warren hit for a .556 batting average (5-for-9) as the the Clippers went 2-1 during a weekend series against the Lima Locos. He went 4-for-4 in Muskegon’s 14-10 win on Sunday during the first game of a double header.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
